On our visit to Portugal, we stayed in Ferragudo, a charming and tranquil fishing village nestled within the splendid Algarve region. It was all I was looking for, with its pristine golden beaches, splendid sunsets, and a whisper of serenity among its whitewashed houses. The glow with every paddle stroke, igniting microorganisms, created a one-of-a-kind spectacle on the water’s surface. It was truly extraordinary and unforgettable, as was our entire Puerto Rico holiday.

So funny story (or not so funny!) my husband and I were headed to Bermuda for a sales trip he had won when a hurricane hit the island! We had a one night layover in Maryland so we did a three hour tour (yes, you read that right 😂) of DC before heading back to LA. I will never forget bursting into tears when I walked through work’s doors on Monday morning with everyone asking me what I was doing there.

Desperate to have a vacation before starting our family (our oldest is 27 so that tells you how long ago this was 😭), we traded in our Bermuda trip for a trip to New Orleans the following month. We actually did make it to Bermuda years later, when I was six months pregnant with our third and, again, desperate for a vacation before starting back down infant lane. 🤪 Needless to say, it all worked out (which is usually the case, one way or another!)

Hurricane season in the Atlantic stretches from early June to late November. The key to a smooth trip, even in stormy seasons, is wise decision-making, early preparations, and a flexible itinerary. This is where a trusted travel agent can make all the difference!
