The Santa Cruz bay is located in Huatulco, a beautiful village in the southern state of Oaxaca, Mexico, on the pacific coast.
The bays of Huatulco Is one of the most beautiful tourist centers in Mexico, which fascinates every visitor with its 9 bays and 36 beaches. It has not only that, but also rivers, mountains, ruins and a lot of interesting places to visit and explore.
Santa Cruz bay is where I grew up since my family and I got here when I was five or six years old. And I can tell you, it was an amazing opportunity for a small group of kids to explore a literally virgin zone, there wasn’t any kind of Infrastructure, that was the main reason my father, besides others, came here back in 1985. He was part of the pioneers civil engineers staff of FONATUR, a federal government agency dedicated to the development of tourism in Mèxico, ready to let the project of “Bahias de Huatulco” become real, so therefore, one of our favorite games was just to explore. I have great memories of that age here.
Santa Cruz bay has become now the main bay of Huatulco's tourist development, where you can find hotels, banks, restaurants, residential areas, and yes, beautiful beaches to visit. Its public spaces are very wide, friendly and architecturally accessible, from a wheelchair user perspective, although there are always exceptions, especially in private spaces.
This is a place with a very quiet and homely atmosphere to enjoy, and to live. I’ll tell you more about this next time.
