“A Perfect Christmas Getaway. We were so fortunate to find this listing. Although it was a little remotely located it worked out perfectly because it rained most of the time and the house was so spacious and comfortable we didn’t mind staying in at all. “A Charming Farmhouse, loved spending 6 nights here. The house is very large and people can spread out to have their own privacy. The 5 bedrooms are all good sized and the master suite upstairs is huge. It is an absolutely beautiful property with about 3.5 mile private hiking trail within the 350 acres.” -Angela P.

Although the Catholic Church explored the area in the late 1700s, it did not establish a formal church there until 1906, according to the Santa Margarita Historical Society. Santa Margarita de Cortona Catholicity Church is one of the area’s oldest Catholic churches.

Explore the unique history of the Carrisa Plains area at the Santa Margarita Historical Society. It still houses El Saucito Ranch and you can enjoy Soda Lake and the Temblor Range plus the unfinished town of California Valley. California Valley, an unfinished town founded in 1964 might be the most interesting site in the area. Originally the 7500 acre Chicote Ranch, it was divided into two-and-a half acre parcels.
