What a beautiful Spring day and now weekend! I enjoy the 15 minute walk down the rail trail across the street to Lake Colby, I never know what I may see in the woods or in the water. Yesterday I noticed a beautiful Tamarack tree with it's fresh needles and 'flowers' that become the baby pine cones which I never noticed before, they were reddish purple as seen in the photo. I was curious about the deciduous conifer and so I found the following link: https://www.ediblewildfood.com/tamarack.aspx

Many years ago I would forage for wild flowers and things to dry and make arrangements, wreaths, and ornaments. I used the tiny delicate pine cones to adorn my creations.

Our Story

A sweet space to come home to - a cozy efficiency for vacation rental for one or two people in Saranac Lake. Easy walk to downtown. The Nook has an amazingly comfy bed, seating to relax, a small desk for a lap-top, WIFI of course, games, and many brochures and such to help you choose your Adk adventures. The bathroom has a slipper tub to soak, following a hike or ski it’s amazing, with a hand-held shower or walk down the stairs and use the stand up shower in another full-bathroom. There is the kitchen nook between the bedroom and bathroom with coffee/tea service, a mini fridge, toaster and microwave to prepare some simple meals. Most people say they had everything they needed for a comfy stay. The entrance is private from the owners apartment - come and go with ease.
