Most planes are painted to be noticed. But some are carefully painted to go completely unnoticed.

After learning to open my ears, I could tell better stories here about our clients than about ourselves... We love what we do, but at best, our story is a celebration of mediocrity. We’re teaching people to build & fly portable utility aircraft. We’re not exactly curing cancer. And, while we take our jobs seriously - we don’t take ourselves too seriously - nor do we post every thought, nor thing we do on social media. In fact, most of our clients abhor social media. But if you’re here for a story, here we go...
Right out of college, I had the best job in the world as a development engineer at Bayliner Boats in Seattle, WA. After 2 years I was sick of girls in rain boots, coffee, traffic and dirty bars (well kinda). In February of 2001 I went into my boss’s office, quit my job, s**t my pants, got drunk, sold it all, & hit the road with a buddy in derelict motorhome. We climbed & skied the Rockies for a few months & did some reflecting. Basically, as a means to an end, I had worked on farms growing up & played football to afford college - but neither held my interest going forward. According to my Grandmother, I always wanted to fly... After the mountains were done calling, I lived in a tent in the Arizona desert behind an airport for another few months. I emerged as a flight instructor. On September 10th, 2001, I started my dream of a flight school, cut the ribbon & everything. The next day, it went out of business as the airspace closed in lieu of the World Trade Centers attack in New York. Lest we forget.
In a 19-year blur since then, I have successfully mixed business with pleasure with friends with weather in what is likely the worst business plan ever. During that time, I managed to fly Trikes all over the world, deliver over 9000 hours of teaching, soloed over 300 students, fired less than 20 students, delivered countless projects for television & government contractors, married an aviation attorney, had a daughter addicted speed (not the drug), developed 2 private airstrips and become certified as an FAA/ASTM aircraft manufacturer. These achievements are not necessarily unique on there own nor was I absent mentors & colleagues, but until noted otherwise - I did so with a perfect safety record.
