Please be careful this weekend with the king tides. You can check the tide table here: https://www.seasideor.com/tide-tables/

As the king tides return Jan. 11-13, remember that jetties are never safe places to be, especially when the sea is high.

King tides are the highest tides of the year, occurring each fall/winter when the moon and sun align to put the greatest gravitational pull on the earth. The final round of king tides hits the Oregon and Washington coasts this weekend, Jan. 11-13.

Consider this an ideal time to stay off jetties. Here are a few additional tips to keep you safe if you plan to try and get a look at these impressive tides:

-- Stay up high and out of harm’s way.
-- Never turn your back on the ocean.
-- Stay off logs and other debris.
-- Don’t go in the water.
-- Check the tide tables. You can find Oregon coast tide predictions from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration here: tidesandcurrents.noaa.gov/tide_predictions.html?gid=1409

From the Seaside Antique Mall and Bliss Mercantile & Brocante to Cottage and Castle Antiques and Pacific Heirloom, this is a great town for Antiquing (and thrifting too!):

The joy of antiquing never seems to wane in Seaside, even in winter months. According to Jodie Mathison, owner of the iconic Seaside Antique Mall, as long as the roads are open, people flock from Portland and elsewhere on the Coast to hunt for unique treasures during the quieter seasons.

It’s Easy To Seaside

Welcome! Here in Seaside, we don’t guard our secrets. We love to share the beach, rivers, and mountains we call home.

Surely you’ve noticed the view stretching from Tillamook Head to the Necanicum Estuary. Isn’t it something? For thousands of years this was the backdrop to daily life for countless generations of Clatsop Indians. Members of the Lewis and Clark party camped here in 1806, boiling seawater to make salt for the trek back home. Ben Holladay built the first resort in 1871, beating the beach craze by quite a few years. Of course, the beach wasn’t so sandy back then - you can thank the installation of the South Jetty in the early 1900s for that.

Nowadays Seaside is the ideal playground for kids and kids at heart. We’ve got arcades, bumper cars, ice cream, a shooting gallery, and 171 flavors of saltwater taffy and counting. Although we’ve added swing sets and volleyball nets, the beach alone has drawn a steady stream of visitors for 150 years.

But what brings people back again and again is the community you’ll find here. We’ve filled our downtown with great restaurants, cutting-edge bakeries, comfy bookstores, brimming antique shops, creative galleries, and historic properties.
