We have been doing a lot of soul-searching over the past few months, and have made the difficult decision to have Hawaii be our final destination for our subscription business. We have been working diligently to contact each of our annual subscribers over the Summer which is why it took a bit of time to make this announcement. Thank you so much for your patience as we try to navigate this difficult decision.

As many of you know, this is a passion project we started during the pandemic and it has truly been such a wonderful experience. We have learned so much, we’re closer than ever as friends, and it gave us a way to share our love for travel with others. THANK YOU for supporting our dream and our incredible roster of chefs and artisans around the world.

Meet the amazing chef for our 🌺Hawaii Experience, Chef Angela!! 🌺

Chef Angela is a Honolulu-based Chef that will fill your kitchens with so much laughter and love! She has been a personal chef for the last 12 years and is the founder of ‘That Girl Cooks.’ Angela will share how to make three iconic Hawaii dishes: Spam Musubi, Garlic Shrimp, and Butter Mochi. Yummm!! We can’t wait to learn some fun and unique techniques on these classic Hawaiian recipes.

I got to meet him in his shop this fall and it was such a fun time coming up with exclusive flavors for TROVE travelers. We did our trial run with Chef Anna this weekend from and had the best time!! 👩‍🍳☺️🇩🇪This might be one of our favorite menus to date!

We will be making Schupfnudeln (think potato gnocchi) with bacon and sauerkraut, our new favorite drink - FeuerZanegBowle (German mulled wine with a sugar cube trick), and for dessert Brat Apfel (a fun stuffed apple 🍎 dessert). This is one of the world’s most picturesque fairy-tail villages! ✨In fact, the whole town looks a bit like a Hallmark movie (who doesn’t love those this time of year 😉).

I got to visit this amazing medieval village last month with my parents to meet some of the makers in our latest TROVE Experience. It truly is a magical place and at Christmas time the Rothenburg Christmas Market turns the whole town into a winter wonderland. ❄️☃️🎅🎄

Happy Día De Los Mu***os!

Our last TROVE trip was to Mexico City to celebrate this beautiful holiday. In Mexican culture, Día de Los Mu***os is celebrated November 1st & 2nd. We learned in our art experience with Sofia that a big part of Día De Los Mu***os is to set up a beautiful alter and have a lovely dinner party (sometimes at cemeteries) to honor our loved ones.

Altars are set up to welcome the return of loved ones’ spirit. The marigolds help guide them with their fragrance and are considered the bridge between the world of the living and the world of the dead (side note – if you haven’t seen Coco, a Dinsey movie, we highly recommend it!); papel picado, sugar skulls, favorite foods, and pictures are all also placed on the alter to honor those who are gone. Thank you, Sofia, for teaching us and walking us through such a beautiful experience!

We hope you enjoy the time with your family over the next two days and remember to celebrate those who are no longer with us. 🧡💀✨ 💐🏵️

Hi TROVE Travelers!!

We are looking to celebrating Día de los Mu***os with you in vibrant Mexico City this weekend!

Today we are kicking things off with Artist Sofía who will teach you how to paint a Frida Kahlo inspired painting using a photo of a loved one. This experience starts at 11am PST today!

On Sunday, Chef Graciela will be teaching you how to make traditional red mole and corn tortillas from scratch. And then, you'll finish with a delicious cup of hot chocolate that you will whisk to perfection!

We have found the most amazing chef-grade masa flour from ! We can’t wait to cook with you to make some delicious corn tortillas with this masa flour. Masienda launched in 2014 and collaborates with farmers all over Mexico and this particular masa is from a single-origin heirloom corn - white olotillo. Meet Jazmin! Owner of Ocelotl Artesenias y Cafe Mex which is dedicated to preserving traditional Mexican crafts like this handmade Puebla bowl we are featuring in our Fall Box! We will be shipping at the end of his month! Order yours by 9/27 to join our first live experience on 10/9.

Erika stumbled upon her one-of-a-kind shop inside Mercado de Artesanías La Ciudadela in Mexico City, which is a market near city center that is known for its Mexican crafts. She was struck by the beautiful red clay and painting. These bowls are typically used to serve pozole, but you can also use it for side dishes, sauces, cheese, or extra mole sauce from our featured cooking class!

Have you seen this fun kitchen tool before? It is a molinillo! Chef Graciela shares that these are one of the most traditional utensils found in Mexican kitchens.

Molinillos have existed since pre-hispanic times when ancient cultures used them to create foam in their drinks. During our interview with Chef Graciela (check out our latest blog post to learn more!), she shares that when moving the molinillo at a good pace inside the liquid, air comes in, generating that delicious foam we love to have in our hot chocolate. Foam, by the way, was very precious in old times because it represented the “soul” of the beverage.
