I figured we’d let the Black-Friday Cyber-Storm pass and then offer something simple and hopefully valuable to you as an encouragement to shop small with Eva’s Wild for your holiday gifts this season. Starting today, if you spend $200 at Eva’s Wild buying gifts for your loved ones, we’ll send you a $50 gift certificate to use on whatever you want. Like wild Bristol Bay sockeye salmon; smoked salmon jerky; or our new hats, which are inbound to us and will ship before Christmas. And, for the first 9 folks who take us up on this offer, we’re going to gift you a copy of @amy_gulick ‘s gorgeous book, ‘The Salmon Way’. If you are a salmon-person, you need this book in your home. Once we run out of books, you can still get the gift certificate. That’s it. Pretty simple deal. Also, wanted to mention, if you can, we want to whole-heartedly encourage you to buy fish from your local fisher-folk. Like my partner, Mat here at EW, all fisher-folks work hard, long, often dangerous hours to bring us these gifts from the sea. If you need some guidance on where to find your local fisher-folks, visit bristolbaysockeye.org/find-your-fish/ or drop us a line at [email protected]. We’ll be happy to point you in the right direction. And, if you don’t have local fisher-folk in your area, we’d be honored to send your friends and loved ones gifts of wild salmon anywhere in the continental USA. Eat Wild Save Wild. Onward, friends! ~Mark 🏔️🌲🐟

The best part of about all our work is the creation of relationships with people who care about Place. THIS place. The sea, forest, rivers and streams of the Pacific Northwest and Alaska. And, the salmon of this place who are our North Star – who give their lives so life can continue. @victorsteinbrueck and Ian and their team @localtide care. That’s why partnering with them is such a seamless, authentic fit. We each believe in the sanctity of sourcing from known, ethical fishermen harvesting salmon from the world’s most sustainable salmon fishery in Bristol Bay, Alaska. And giving back to that Source in real, tangible ways to support future generations of indigenous stewardship of Place. And did I mention Local Tide? Have you eaten there? I want every menu item every time I step up to order. We’re partial to the OG salmon sandwich, but this week’s Salmon BLT special to celebrate Bristol Bay Salmon Week is out of this world. Go get some and lean into the love of this sacred place we are privileged to call home.

Had fun with this one! One of the best parts of our work is being able to partner with local chefs bringing the world the best ingredients they can find, and creating rich experiences through food. Chef O’nes at @kfsushi_01 in Seattle’s Central District does just that. Here’s him cheffing up a crazy delicious platter of our wild, sustainably harvested Coho and Bristol Bay Sockeye. At some point we had to put down the camera and start eating. Thanks Chef, go drop in and pay him a visit!

Renee Erickson is a friend, fellow salmon warrior and James Beard award-winning chef, author and the chef/co-owner of multiple projects in Seattle: The Walrus and the Carpenter, The Whale Wins, Barnacle, Boat Bar, Bateau, Lioness, Deep Dive, Willmott’s Ghost, Westward, and several General Porpoise Doughnuts and Coffee locations.
Renee just launched her new cookbook Sunlight & Breadcrumbs – exploring the surprising wonder; satisfaction; beauty and creativity in making everyday food at home. Mat and I caught up with Renee at her new farm property in Northern Washington for a wild sockeye salmon Feast in the Field and filmed this piece you’re watching now. We are proud to partner with Renee and her deep bench of chefs in telling Bristol Bay’s robust story of regenerative generosity through sourcing our wild salmon from world’s largest, most sustainable sockeye salmon fishery.

Chef Taichi Kitamura of @sktamura uses sustainable ingredients in authentic Japanese preparations, and has been using Bristol Bay sockeye for over twenty years. If you ever sit at the bar for their omakase, you’ll hear the story behind every ingredient from the Chef himself.
Eva’s Wild has been proud to be Sushi Kappo Tamura’s source for Bristol Bay’s finest since 2021. Like Chef Kitamura, we view food as a story, and a way to connect with the world, enjoy its delicacies, while supporting sustainable practices.
At Eva’s Wild, we say “eat wild, save wild”. The future of wild salmon depends on sustainable management practices, and a strong Bristol Bay commercial fishery that provides livelihoods for the region that are in harmony with the environment. When you eat Bristol Bay sockeye, you support the last stronghold for wild salmon on the planet. Eva’s Wild also gives 10% of our profits to indigenous-lead efforts to protect Bristol Bay for future generations.
We are grateful for partners like Chef Kitamura. Visit him in Eastlake, and hear the story of wild salmon in his own words.
