132 years on Norway’s coast 🇳🇴 ⚓️

On this day in 1893, the very first Hurtigruten voyage set sail — brought to life by the vision of Captain Richard With, who helped chart a safer, faster route to unite Norway’s long and rugged coastline.

Since then, we’ve grown from a single steamship to a fleet of iconic ships — connecting communities and sharing the soul of the Norwegian coast with the world.

Thank you to every guest, crew member and local who’s been part of the story ❤️

Don't miss the chance to see the Midnight Sun! ☀️

This amazing natural phenomenon can only be experienced north of the Arctic Circle from mid-May and can last until mid-July for more northerly destinations.

Many passengers (and locals!) find that the days take on a dreamy quality, spending time chatting with fellow shipmates far into the night, or simply enjoying spending time outdoors in the endless 'golden hour'.

How would you spend your time if it never went dark?

The most comfortable, convenient and captivating ways to travel will soon be the most environmentally friendly! 🚢

This weekend's episode of The Visioneers features Hurtigruten as Gerry Larsson-Fedde, Hurtigruten’s Chief Operating Officer, takes host Zay Harding around our first battery-hybrid-powered ship, MS Richard With.

The Sea Zero concept aims to cut energy consumption between 40-50% compared to today’s ships. That reduction would enable emission-free operations along the Norwegian coast, as batteries would be charged with shore power connectivity in key ports ⚡🌊

Don’t miss this weekend's episode of The Visioneers, which will air on CBS on tomorrow, Saturday May 31, at 8:30 a.m. local time - as well as all episodes available for streaming on CBS: https://ow.ly/C2og50W1Y2k

There’s nothing like 17th of May on board Hurtigruten 🇳🇴 🎉

Norway’s Constitution Day is a celebration of culture, community, and the coast — and when you’re sailing with us, you’re part of it.

We mark the day with flags flying, bunads on deck, local ice cream, parades, and that unmistakable 17 May spirit.

Pictured here are celebrations on board MS Trollfjord last year, as the ship docked in Åndalsnes to join the local parade, before continuing on to Hjørundfjord for a peaceful afternoon in Sæbø.

Gratulerer med dagen from all of us at Hurtigruten!

Longyearbyen, nestled in the Arctic wilderness, is surrounded by rugged mountains that create a breathtaking backdrop 🏔️

The soil here is mostly permafrost, supporting a unique ecosystem adapted to the extreme cold. 🐋 This permafrost also plays a crucial role in preserving ancient remains and providing valuable clues about the region's past.

🚢 And in just over one month, this Arctic town will once again welcome The Svalbard Line as MS Trollfjord sets sail for another summer season!☀️

Easter in Norway is all about fresh air, slow days, and simple joys 🐣

Many Norwegians head to the mountains or the coast for a quiet break, bringing with them a few Easter essentials:

🍊 Oranges & Solo orange soda
🍫 Kvikk Lunsj chocolate bars
📖 A stack of påskekrim – crime novels written especially for Easter

Whether it’s ski tracks in the snow or sea views from the deck, Easter here is about recharging in nature and savoring the signs of spring.

God Påske! Happy Easter from Norway!
