Begin researching vendors. In selecting, pick those that will provide you with what is most important to you at a price that works. Have a planning checklist and track your spending. Sticking to the budget you set up is critical.

Many different elements go into making the perfect and memorable wedding ceremony. Some couples like to at least one wedding reading. A wedding reading can be a quote, poem, bible passage, or an excerpt that is read by soneone the couple has chosen. There are endless options of both religious and non-religious The best readings are ones that are significant to the Bride and Groom. I am including one of my favorite light-hearted options.

Planning a wedding can be stressful--so many decisions need to be made. A study recently showed that one of the things brides are most stressed out about are what to do about including a plus one. A plus one is an additional guest that the invitee may bring to the wedding. Although how to handle this will vary from couple to couple, recommendations are that anyone who is married, engaged or living with a partner, even if you don't know them, should receive a plus one. Allowing extra guests means the cost of your wedding will increase and may complicate the intimacy you were hoping to create. If you choose to include a plus one, be sure to address the wedding invitation to the guest you are inviting along with "and guest". You can also use the plus one's name if you know what it is. Thought I would address the most common questions asked of me about getting married.
1. The only place you can get your marriage license is at one of the 88 probate court houses. You must go to the probate court of the county that one of you lives in. If neither of you is a resident of Ohio then you must go to the probate court where the wedding will take place.
2. Both of you need to go to probate court together and provide valid identification such as a driver's license, state ID, passport, visa, or current utility bill.
3. If either of you have been married before, you must present a certified copy of the most recent divorce decree.
4. There is no waiting period for the marriage license. It is good the day you get it.
5. The marriage license will be good for 60 days. If not used within 60 days, you will need to purchase a new one.
6. Those who may perform a marriage ceremony are ordained or licensed officiants of any religion, specified judges and mayors,
7. Ohio does not require couples to have witnesses at the ceremony so a ceremony can take place with just the two of you.

Each year weddings bring new and innovative approaches. Couples are constantly looking for ways to celebrate their union and to make it memorable for all their family and friends. One change seems to be in the desire for couples to put more emphasis on truly connecting with their guests during this special time. Instead of having just a one-day celebration, couples are making plans to create multiple times to spend time with their guests--rehearsal dinners, welcome parties, morning after parties, brunches and more. There also seems to be in increase in destination weddings where the focus is on multiple days of celebrating. Couples are wanting their guests to have the best time possible and remember their wedding long after the day is over.

Many couples want to write their own personal vows to each other and this is something I like to encourage couples to do. I do suggest, however, that you consider embracing the intimacy of sharing these before the actual ceremony. It is a lovely way to connect and share a special moment without an audience which will allow the two of to truly embrace these words of love.

Just went to the open house at Tall Oaks Event Center in Sheffield Village. I’ve even booked my first wedding there in May. Lots to be done yet but will be magical when entire plan is complete.

Today I had the honor of leading a Celebration of Life for Patricia Ann Ednie Mentzer. Although I never had the honor of knowing Patricia, I learned she was a kind and generous woman who put her family above everything. She was known as the Cookie Lady because if she needed to thank someone for their services or kindness, words weren't enough. She loved to give them cookies.
