An evening of twinkly lights in Shelter Cove, at the Cape Mendocino Lighthouse! It was such a delightful event. Children hung ornaments on the tree, sipped hot cocoa, and played together. Meanwhile, adults helped their kids reach the perfect spots for their ornament, socialized and watched their children soak in the Christmas magic. Thank you to everyone who organized and put together this lovely event. It truly was a festive delight!

Gray whales are most comfortable in shallow waters and are often found close to shore, even in their summer feeding grounds.
Now is a fantastic time for whale sightings in Shelter Cove, and there have been many! We personally spotted this magnificent creature just 20 yards from where we were standing on the shore of Black Sands Beach. We also saw a pod gracefully blowing in the distance right from the windows of The Ocean's Overlook.
