CHRISTMAS STOCKING INSTRUCTIONS:
Greetings Section 204 Members!
Thank you for taking home a Christmas stocking to fill for a child living in a group home(age range is 7 to 17) or who is connected to an ongoing foster-care mentoring program.
This stocking has been lovingly hand-made by the Willow Stitchers and is “named” for a very special child.
Please do your utmost to fill the stocking and return it to Willow Creek Community Church (67 E. Algonquin Rd., South Barrington, IL) on the designated dates listed below.
Stocking Return Dates: Sunday November 30th immediately before or after services
Drop Off Spot: Creative Café (Mezzanine outside Section 204)—place in box that says “Vulnerable Children’s Ministry Stockings”
Stocking Stuffers—please do not wrap any items in the stocking. They will be inspected prior to distribution. If possible, place filled stocking in a plastic grocery bag to keep contents from spilling out. Do not overfill.
Suggested items (PLEASE KEEP TOTAL VALUE BETWEEN $40-$50 MAXIMUM to make it fair for all):
• Toiletry products such as deodorant, shampoo, body wash (Axe products are popular with the boys)
• Toothpaste and toothbrush
• Combs & brushes
• Small puzzle books, notebooks, comics, or softcover books (junior high level reading)
• Colored pencils, markers
• Cologne/perfume
• Bracelets, earrings, watches (less expensive varieties)
• Socks
• Small handheld electronic games
• Key chains
• Change purse or wallet
• Candy (anything non-melting), granola bars
• Cookies, crackers (must be store-bought)
• Encouraging note—feel free to include an encouraging card/holiday greeting—but no personal information should be exchanged
• Gift cards to McDonald’s (no greater than $5 quantities)
Please do not include glass/breakable items, sharp objects, tools, or anything that resembles a weapon.
