On a sad note, we have lost two of our sailors recently. A tribute was sent to our membership regarding Pat Mitchell and there is a memorial party scheduled for this Saturday, November 17th. The location is 2359 Washington Avenue, South Lake Tahoe. You may bring a potluck dish to share or beverages or just come as you are.
Secondly, a long standing member of the Windjammers Yacht Club, Jim Hildinger, has died. Our Member-at-Large Jon Hoefer penned the following: Jim Hildinger was the first "LIFE" member of the club. He was one of the original founders and remained a stalwart supporter throughout the existence of the club. He sailed a Rhodes 19, Robato, for many years until he moved up to a Catalina 27, Cadensa. He wanted a boat in which he could brew coffee on his many trips to Emerald Bay. Jim initiated a race among Catalina 27 owners called the "Hildinger Cup" but soon opened it to other boats when not enough Catalina 27's came out to challenge him. More noteworthy though was his passion for sailing Lake Tahoe when few others ventured out. "No better time to be on the Lake" he often told other sailors, but few joined his winter outings. We will miss you Jim and wish you sunny, but brisk, sailing in eternity.

here are some ideas for charters; bareboat; for winter; boatsetter; click and boat and get my boat. I would suggest getting American Sailing Association 103 and 104 certification's to bareboat. San Diego offers the least expensive courses. We had a great experience.

The LTWYC has a great safety record. conditions can vary drastically on the lake in minutes. we rescued 3 people in a capsize a few years ago, the boat went down in minutes. You only have a few minutes to survive in our cold water. wear a pfd not a bikini. know how to do a MOB drill if the skipper goes over. practice/training /live another day.

sailing clinic coming up 7/14. Taco night; Weds night after the Beer Can races. See our website for all the info.

Area Forecast Discussion
National Weather Service Reno NV
220 AM PDT Sat Jun 9 2018

.SYNOPSIS...

An incoming low pressure system will produce strong and gusty
winds today. These winds will result in dangerous boating
conditions, critical fire weather concerns, travel hazards for
high profiles vehicles and areas of blowing dust. Cooler
temperatures are expected this weekend but will quickly rebound
next week as above average temperatures return.

a classic from a icon of sailing. Vic Beelic.

the water is very cold. wear a PFD. whistle, mirror, light/strobe , in vest. You will only last a few minutes in the cold water. this is not a barefoot cruise in a bathing suit. Bring all your gear in a bag. booties, waterproof pants, waterproof jacket, hat, gloves. practice your man overboard drills. can you steer the boat and rescue the skipper is she/he falls overboard.????
Everyone comes home!
