Cruising is Just Like an All-Inclusive. But is it?

Different cruise lines operate differently, but often after you buy your cruise fare, there is the add ons with the drink-packages, wi-fi, gratuities, excursions and more.

How much extra could that be? For 2 people it often is over $1000 more depending on the cruise line.

This month I'm trying Royal Caribbean Utopia of the Seas to see if all these add-ons are worth it or if it feels like they are charging for everything on the cruise. When families travel - you want to enjoy yourselves, and not feel like everything you do costs more! Sometimes you just want the vacation paid for and be done! The only way to get to some places is by train!

Knowing what to expect is one way I help my clients. One big misconception on a cruise is a suite on a cruise means multiple rooms and bathrooms, but that is not the case for many suites!

I am always listening to what my clients want and best advise them for the trip they are imagining in their head. This is what Alicia said about their Alaska trip and working with me.

"So glad we went with the two balcony rooms next to each other instead of the suite! We had our own space and could keep the internal door open so we could still hear and see our kids! Lauren helped us compare the pricing with a suite and showed us that the 2 Balcony Rooms got us exactly what we needed! Those sliding doors to the balcony are solid and we never had to worry the kids could open the balcony without us. We would have been miserable with one bathroom and one room. Lauren saved our family vacation."

🏔Favorite Experience in Alaska with our Son:

Seeing the Sunrise as we went under the Lion's Gate Bridge near the date of the Lion's Gate Portal (if you know you know).

The amazing sunrise was surreal and something my son still talks about. Then, traveling right under the Lion's Gate Bridge as we entered port was memorable.

It was an amazing way to end our Alaska Vacation and a memory we all talk about years later. What vacation memory do you dream of having with your family?

Can you make a Royal Caribbean Cruise a Luxury Experience for your Family?

I’m opening my mind that is may be possible. I’m not one who loves Caribbean Cruises, but I’m trying it out in Early 2025 to see if it can change my mind! Royal Caribbean is known for the thrill and adventure on the ships that keep kids and parents entertained. They also have stunning suites that are memorable!

Personalized Services is my game. I tried using Google and Chatgpt to see if they could do better than me. Many times people don't have time for the hours of research to plan the trip they are imagining in their head. My goal is to get you your dream trip after a 30 minute phone call.

Google: Gave me over 100,000 results and the Google AI would only give me a general answer.

Chat GPT: Gave wrong answers for the cruise ships and hallucinated a place to stay on land.

Not included: I even tried in my own Custom GPT I made and it still did not give a ship that went to Glacier Bay.

What I've learned from this: You still need a human touch to get exactly what you want.

Private Tours vs. Group Tours

This past summer, I had a client go back and forth between a group tour and a private tour in Alaska. She did not like the idea of following a paddle around or going at a group pace. When we compared prices for private tours and group tours, she was most surprised, that the price was similar. She ended up picking the private tour and was so happy! She took a picture of walking by Creek Street later showing me how many people were at the shops. The second picture was her picture when they had a private walk at Creek Street with hardly anyone there. Her local guide navigated exactly what she wanted and timed everything around the cruise ships, other tours, and locals to get the best experience. Now, she only wants to travel in private tours!

Just because it's winter - does not mean you need to find a warm place to travel. Winter travel to other countries allows you to explore beautiful scenery and take part in amazing activities. My favorite is any type of train ride through the snow!
