Governor Lamont has activated the hot weather protocol starting at 12:00 PM Sunday, July 14, 2024 through 8:00 PM Wednesday, July 17, 2024.

Therefore, the Town of Southington will implement its Hot Weather Protocol at 12:00 PM Sunday, July 14, 2024 through 8:00 PM Wednesday, July 17, 2024. Cooling locations are as follows:

Southington Calendar House, 388 Pleasant Street:

Monday-Wednesday 8:30 AM – 4:30 PM

Southington Public Library, 255 Main Street:

Beginning August 5, 2024, Eversource and its approved contractors will begin working on the Southington to Black Pond Junction Structure Replacement Project. In the upcoming weeks, work will begin within the right-of-way on or near Peters Circle, Rustic Oak Dr., Partridge Dr., and Pine Oak Dr. to replace existing wooden transmission structures with new weathering steel structures. These project activities will occur within the right-of-way between Southington Substation near Belleview Ave. in Southington and an area off Rt. 66 in Meriden called Black Pond Junction.

• Be assured that this work will not interrupt electric service to your property.
• All people working on this project carry identification.
• Construction activity will take place on Eversource-owned property or within the existing right of way.
• The hours for construction are 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday. Due to weather or other unexpected circumstances from time to time, the crews may need to work longer hours or work on a Sunday.
• Construction activities, including restoration, to be complete by early 2025.

Farmington Canal Heritage Trail Paving
Please be advised that a portion of the final course of pavement for the trail (with the exception of John Weichsel Xing to 1000 feet South) will be applied on Friday, June 28, 2024. Trail entrances/exits will be secured afterwards with a combination of traffic cones, drums, and warning tape. The project is not expected to be completed until the end of July.
