Your Life Story Videos

Your Life Story Videos Your story...their treasure. The things you miss after your loved ones are gone are irreplaceable. A laugh. The way eyes light up when telling a story.

A quirky crooked smile or comical raised eyebrow. We want to remember, we intend to pass the details of heartwarming interactions and exciting adventures on to future generations—but often we fail to record experiences and stories in ways that last. Our memories fade. Your Life Story Videos is not just a way to preserve history. It is a way to truly connect with loved ones while we are still aliv

e, to show the impact of others and to leave behind the wisdom of lives well-lived. Creating a Your Life Story Video is a life-affirming act of appreciation and love that lives on long beyond our memories.

This recent Life Story client, Kit Carter, passed away last week at age 94. In looking at her Life Story again, I thought about how much community history is tucked inside these stories. Here is Kit talking about a much beloved area of Staunton, Virginia, where she grew up.

My Uncle Jim passed away this week, living to be well into his 90s. I did his Life Story last year and marveled at his stories, like this one, from his Navy service in WWII. He went on to become the oldest living commissioned State Trooper in Arkansas. I am so proud of him.

Today I taped a Life Story with a woman whose childhood was so horrific and abusive, she simply couldn't talk about it. Talk about getting a slap-in-your-face dose of gratitude!

My family saved memories with photographs. But beginning in my generation, some families started saving memories with 8mm videos. Today those videos are priceless! Here is an example of how I integrate old home movies into Life Stories. BTW, the 15% holiday discount expires next week, so if you are interested in a Life Story during 2015, now is the time to book. www.yourlifestoryvideos.com

Mary Jo Browning was a southern debutante, and old custom fairly rare today. In this Life Story Video clip she talks about the honor, and also looks at her role as a southern woman today. www.yourlifestoryvideos.com

I always ask my Life Story clients about their memories of the birth of their children. Here's my sister-in-law, Nancy Doebele, talking about her first born son.

One of the joys of doing Life Stories is saving family stories about the holidays. Here is one of my 2014 clients, Mary Jo Browning, talking about her memories of her father at Christmas time.

Almost finished working with a dear friend on a video about her work with the Women's Peace Leadership Program at Eastern Mennonite University. Hopefully she'll give me permission to share a clip on FB soon

Today, I was in Washington doing a Life Story of a public servant who is seriously ill. It was an honor to record this interview for his daughter and son. What a gift he gave them!

The ease and the quickness with which family information and tradition is lost is remarkable and rather appalling. A considerable amount of family history is sure to die with the older members of a family, and then when it is afterward urgently desired, it is either lost completely or is difficult to trace.
