Have you ever seen flocks of sheep on Rabbit Ears or throughout Routt County? Sheep grazing occurs throughout the area through late September, and there are some important things to know in order to avoid conflict with the guardian dogs!

🐑 If mountain biking, stop and get off. Put the mountain bike between you and the dog. Walk the bike until you are past the flock.
🐑 Keep your distance from the flock.
🐑 Keep your pets leashed at all times.
🐑 If the dog approaches, keep calm and quiet. If they continue to approach, yell "GO BACK" or "NO".

These amazing dogs are tasked with the important job of protecting their flock. Let's give them the space to do so!

Oasis at the Library 📖
Retreat into the calm coolness of the Bud Werner Memorial Library. Grab a book, enjoy the air conditioning and get comfortable in a plush chair by the window overlooking the Yampa River. Steamboat’s public library is located just off Lincoln Avenue on the west end of downtown, and serves as a much needed escape from the heat and chaos that summer brings. The library is open every day, from 8 a.m.-7 p.m. Monday-Thursday, 8 a.m.-6 p.m. on Fridays, and 10 a.m.-5 p.m. on the weekends.

Revival in the Park 🧘‍♀️🌷
Slow down and hone in on both your body and the natural environment with outdoor yoga. Yampa River Botanic Park, located off Lincoln Avenue next to the Emerald Park soccer fields, is the perfect place to immerse yourself in the outdoors.

Yoga sessions begin Saturday, May 25, and end Saturday, Aug. 31, every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday at 9:00am.

Meet a Local Artist: Jewelry Maker Tibby Speare

Tibby Speare has been creating art since elementary school but it wasn’t until college that she fell in love with jewelry making and Turquoise. “That’s still my favorite stone,” she says. “All the flavors and energy around it, but mainly just the color itself sings to me.”

Go West, Young Woman
Exploring Steamboat Art Museum's current exhibit, "We Set Our Faces Westward: One Woman’s Journey 1839-1848."

A journal written by a woman living in the Midwest inspired Heide Presse’s exhibit “We Set Our Faces Westward: One Woman’s Journey 1839-1848.”

“One reason that I chose her journal as my inspiration is because she was very descriptive in the way that she did daily things, which is one of my favorite things to paint – everyday lives,” Heide says. “So it was the perfect situation.”

Gateway to the Continental Divide Trail ⛰
The Continental Divide Trail, stretching 3,100 miles from Mexico to Canada along the Continental Divide, is the longest thru-hike in what’s known to hardcore hikers as the “Triple Crown.” It surpasses the Appalachian Trail by 1,000 miles and the Pacific Crest Trail by 500 miles. Steamboat Springs is officially designated a CDT Gateway Community, recognized for not only promoting awareness and stewardship of the trail, but also creating a welcoming environment for its hikers that pass through.
