The next few weeks of meet your Stratham Volunteer Fire Department will feature the annual Stratham Fair. As you may know the Stratham Volunteer Fire Department has been putting on the annual Stratham Fair for decades, and this year is the 51st. It all started in 1966 to celebrate the 250th anniversary of the Town of Stratham. The first year they had a lobster bake and horse pulling events which are both still staple events at today’s fair. Since the first fair, it has grown to be a town wide event, which is supported by almost all organizations throughout the town. Whether it is the Stratham Community Church hosting a dinner, the Boy Scouts selling lemonade, the Stratham Rec Dept. Ice Cream and Cow Flop Contest, the Stratham Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary selling sandwiches and other treats from up on the hill to the many food shacks and 4-H events all run by volunteers provide organizations the ability to give back to their community. Each year the town of Stratham looks forward to the annual Stratham Fair as it is the first fair in the state and gives many fair goers the opportunity to see the live animals, ride the rides, eat great food, and enjoy great music events. Yes, there are people who have been to all 51 fairs, gone on first dates at the fair, and are now able to share those memories with their children and grandchildren. Below is a picture of David Noyes who was a Life Member of the SVFD and the original Fair Director. Without his vision, ability to organize, and desire to make his community the best place to live the Stratham Fair may not be possible. So please come and support the Stratham Fair Thursday July 19th through Sunday July 22nd.
