Another great finish for Haynes Nault and his co-angler. This time they were in north Mississippi at Ross Barnett Reservoir. They finished 2nd just .06 of an ounce out of first. They also had big bass of the tournament with his 4 pound largemouth. Great job guys. . . . . .

Listened to Bassmaster 2024 champion Justin Hamner and NWT championship winner Tom Huynh talk about their fishing experience getting them to the champion status. Great time. Another great day for the tournament fishing grandsons. Haynes finished 3rd today and did something I’ve never seen before. Catch the unique way of holding 3 bass with one in each hand and the 3rd in his mouth! I told him he has to do that at every tournament from now on. LOL. His finish today kicked him up to a tie for 2nd in points for the year in the Bass Nation Tournaments Briggs also weighed in 2 bass just need a few more but still a good day. Great job boys. . . . .

He does it AGAIN! Grandson Haynes Nault wins again in the South Mississippi Bass National High School Junior Division. This time they fished the Pearl River one place Haynes is very familiar with. Great Job Haynes, winning for the second time in this years BASS events. I can’t forget, Briggs Nault who took a 4 th in his first tournament weighed a bass too! . . . . . . .

Over the past couple of weeks it’s been some nice smallmouth bass, some walleyes, and a few perch . The weather is leaning towards fall, and is always a great time to hit the water. With water temps starting to cool down our fish here in Door County realize it’s time to feed up for winter. So the bite gets better, less boats on the water, and some great scenery makes Fall perfect time to try some fishing. Be sure to give it a try. . . . . . .

Well, this post is a little harder, August 17th marks two years since Cheryl passed away. Our whole family, along with many friends miss her smile, and joy she passed on to everyone she met. Time to play a little catch up on what’s been an interesting past a few weeks. Starting off with the annual trip to the Knoxville Nationals Sprint Car race with my racing buddies and son Matt. Great time, 4days of racing, with Kyle Larsen winning the Championship Race leading all 50 laps., then back to my favorite fishing grounds, right here in Sturgeon Bay, catching some great walleyes, big perch and some smallmouth bass. Helped this little girl catch a perch and a bass. Then 2,of the best, a salmon catching day out on the big Lake with Matt and Captain Nick for some salmon action followed by a day on the water with Packer great and NFL Hall of Famer Jerry Kramer and his son Matt and Jim Olson. How does a guy get this lucky.

Another day of checking out the walleye bite on the Bay left us a bit disappointed. July is normally a good month for walleyes but not so far this month. Lots of hours and lots of miles for a small amount. Fortunately our perch have really came on strong this year, numbers and size both good in many places. Hope we can soon say the same about the walleyes. . . .

Last week had its ups and downs for sure. Fished perch and they are biting all around Sturgeon Bay. On a sad note I said final good bye to Lee Bournoville, a coffee buddy at the Fire Station, a good firefighter in his day and an all around good guy. Took a day off and along with a bunch of immediate family took in an afternoon Brewers game in honor of Cheryl’s birthday. We all know she was a big Brewers fan! Great tailgating, and a great game. Even got interviewed from a Milwaukee tv station as I was cooking up the brats. 4 granddaughters were along and liked being with Grandpa. We should do this more often. Especially when the Brewers win. . . . . .
