The City of Sunnyside is currently accepting applications for the position of Community & Economic Development (CED) Director. This position is responsible for supervising the areas of planning, building services, economic development services and code compliance.

The CED Director will serve in an advisor capacity to the City Council, Planning Commission and Community & Economic Development Commission in their duties to facilitate public involvement in a broad range of community service and development activities.

The City of Sunnyside currently has an opening for a full-time Recreation Coordinator in the Recreation Division of the Public Works Department. This position will work under the limited supervision of the Recreation Supervisor and will be responsible for assisting in the planning, developing, coordinating and administering multiple citywide recreation programs. The position of Recreation Coordinator will support the mission of the Parks & Recreation Division by working to be responsive to the changing recreational needs of the diverse and growing community in their daily operations.

The City of Sunnyside currently has one vacancy in the Municipal Court for a Court Clerk. Under the general guidance of the Court Administrator, the Court Clerk coordinates and performs technical and administrative functions in support of the operations of the Municipal Court. The Court Clerk is responsible for processing legal documents, managing court records, performing and coordinating courtroom clerk functions, collecting payments, and providing information and customer service to the public within scope of authority.

A bid opening for the Yakima Valley Highway Overlay Project was held in May and the lowest bidder was determined to be Granite Construction. This project will grind and overlay Yakima Valley Highway, from N. 1st Street to N. 6th Street. The project is funded in part by the Transportation Improvement Board and the City’s Transportation Benefit District which was voted in by the community. Stay tuned for more information!
