Duke! He’s the biggest dog in the kennel and also one of the most cuddly. He’s notorious for sneaking up behind people and going between their legs, often lifting them off their feet! His heterochromia eyes and talk stature make him one of the most recognizable dogs in the kennel. Last year was his first season in harness and he did great! Leading for most runs and finishing the Yukon Quest Alaska 300.

We woke up to our first frost this morning! The dogs enjoyed running in the cool temperatures and the humans are pretty excited about winter being just around the corner.

Last week the rest of the Winter litter had their first run in harness!

Polar, Frost, Brisk, and Arctic all did awesome and were so happy to join the team!

We want to thank everyone who attended the first day of our Dryland tours!

We run daily in the morning when it’s nice and cool for the dogs. Once the day time temperatures drop we will run multiple times a day!

Glacier, Frigid, and Chilly had their first run in harness this morning!

They and the rest of the Winter litter are 9 months old now and ready to become a part of the team. We pair them with other experienced dogs, who are patient and show them how to be big sled dogs. We went about a mile and will do this consistently until they are used to everything. Their parents, Henry and Elsa (last photo), belong to our friends and spent last winter with us. Henry and Elsa will be back with us this winter, it will be fun to have the whole family running together!

Kenai. One of the oddest dogs in the kennel. Some days she’s super shy and acts like she doesn’t want any attention, and other days she’s your shadow and wants all the love. There’s probably a lot of people out there who can relate to Kenai and her hot and cold attitude 😆

The pack is growing! Baby girl Buser joining us late January 2025!

Rohn was planning on running Iditarod 2025, but this little girl decided to change our plans a bit and postpone Iditarod to 2026. We are excited for other races this season and cheering on the team with our handler in races this season!

8 boys 2 girls. These pups were conceived on an expedition with some of our Norwegian friends, so we had to pay homage to the gift they gave us and name the pups after some of the people who were there 😆 They are the sweetest group of puppies and we can’t wait to watch them grow up and join the team!

We had a blast in Utah! It was so much fun talking dogs, balancing a kennel, business, and raising a child, and meeting other mushers/dog people. We can not thank our friends at Rancho Luna Lobos enough for their hospitality! If you’re in the Park City area, check them out! They run a really neat program with their racing team, and tours with rescue dogs/race team. They also do an awesome kids summer camp, sharing the sport with new mushers.

Thanks to everyone who came to the first annual Sled Dogs of Summer event! It was so much fun spreading awareness about dog powered sports in the Truckee area, and connect with other mushers. Thanks to Alibi Ale Works - Truckee Public House for hosting!

We plan on having this event next year, but in October when it’s cooler and we can all get together for a run. In the meantime check out Truckee Tahoe Dog Mushers for their full fall and winter event schedule!

Truckee, California has a long history of dog sledding. Mail used to be delivered in the area by dog team. There are claims that the first sled dog race outside of Alaska was held in Truckee, and Jack London was known to attend the Winter Carnival Sled Dog Races.

You don’t have to be in Alaska to enjoy dog powered sports, and chances are there’s a mushing club near you!

Curious about what our tour entails? The Kennel Tour and Walk starts with a half hour off leash walk with a group of dogs on our 40 acre property. After the walk we go in the dog yard and let more dogs off to run, play, and get attention. This is the perfect time to learn about sled dogs and life with them. After time in the yard we will show you a sled and the different gear we use for the dogs. This summer we have puppies, so you get to end your visit in our guest cabin, cuddling our newest team members! It’s is a great way to learn about sled dogs and racing, in a relaxed environment, and also get a dose of dog therapy!
