AFTER WORLD WAR II, THE GEORGE T. REICHNER FAMILY FELT THAT THERE WAS A NEED FOR A MEMORIAL PARK CEMETERY IN THE AREA. ON SEPTEMBER 7, 1946 A LARGE ADVERTISEMENT APPEARED IN THE TAMAQUA EVENING COURIER ANNOUNCING THE ESTABLISHENT OF A NON-SECTARIAN BURIAL ESTATE AND MAUSOLEUM IN THE VILLAGE OF HOMETOWN. THE CEMETERY WAS CALLED SKY-VIEW MEMORIAL PARK....
THE PARK IS MAINTAINED BY OUR OWN FULL-TIME
STAFF. THE USE OF OUR OWN EQUIPMENT ENABLES US TO HAVE A TRULY PERPETUAL CARE CEMETERY. OVER THE YEARS, MUCH OF THE CONTINUED SUCCESS OF OUR CEMETERY IS DUE TO A GROUP OF LOYAL EMPLOYEES. THERE ARE OVER 3000 VETERANS FROM THE SPANISH AMERICAN WAR THROUGH THE PERSIAN GULF WAR INTERRED AT SKY-VIEW MEMORIAL PARK. EVERY MEMORIAL DAY,THE CEMETERY STAFF AND THE QUAKAKE AMERICAN LEGION HONOR THE VETERANS WITH A DIGNIFIED SERVICE. THIS TRADITION HAS TAKEN PLACE FOR OVER 60 YEARS. THE CEMETERY IS AT ITS MOST BEAUTIFUL WITH THE MANY FLOWERS AND FLAGS THAT ADORN THE GRAVES. IN OCTOBER 2008, OUR PET CEMETERY WAS OPENED FOR YOUR FAITHFUL FRIENDS. THIS SECTION IS FOR TRADITIONAL AND CREMATION BURIAL OF YOUR LOVING COMPANION. A COLUMBARIUM WAS ERECTED FOR THE CREMATION ENTOMBMENT OF YOUR PET. IN 2011, SKYVIEW MEMORIAL PARK BEGAN TO OFFER FLORAL BOUQUETS AND WINTER WREATHS FOR FAMILIES TO PURCHASE TO HONOR THEIR LOVED ONE'S GRAVESITES. IN 2013 'PARADISE' WAS OPENED AS A SCATTER GARDEN FOR HUMAN CREMAINS. SKY-VIEW MEMORIAL PARK OFFERS AN INTEREST FREE MONTHLY PAYMENT PLAN ON THE PURCHASE OF YOUR BRONZE MEMORIAL AND/OR THE INTERMENT PLAN. THE BRONZE MEMORIAL DOES NOT NEED TO BE INSTALLED UNTIL THE TIME OF NEED. PRE-PLANNING IS A WISE DECISION FOR THE FUTURE. Family Columbarium
Have you ever had a conversation with your family about death and how you wish to be interred? Are you interested in following traditional burial practices or are you leaning more towards the idea of cremation? Have you ever considered purchasing a family columbarium?
The family columbarium is a new concept in many North American cemeteries. Like a traditional family crypt or tomb (which is designed for full body burial), the family columbarium is designed to inter family cremains in a smaller more personalized niche structure. Some families prefer this cremation interment option to in-ground burial or the larger commercial columbaria now offered in many cemeteries.
Something you may not have considered, is that the family columbarium in some cases can be more economical than traditional in-ground burial, as some standard family columbaria are designed to hold up to 8 urns. Only one plot needs to be purchased. Only one monument (the columbarium) needs to be purchased. Onsite engravings or bronze plaques can be added to the columbarium as needed.
Steeped in family tradition and true devotion, relatives often chose to be interred within close proximity to one another. The connections we have with family runs deep. Holding onto those close ties is now possible for those who choose above ground cremation interment. For many, the family columbarium is an ideal interment option. As the trend towards cremation continues to increase, consider a custom or standard family columbarium to memorialize “The Family”.

Sky-View Memorial Park invites you to join us on Monday, May 27, 2024 for our Veteran Memorial Service. It will begin at 11:30 A.M. in the front of our mausoleum. Come and honor our over 3700 veterans that are interred in our cemetery.
An IPhone was found in the cemetery and is at the office. The owner can call 570-668-4100 and describe.
Beginning Monday, March 4th, our employees will remove all winter decorations from the cemetery and discard them. If you would like to keep your winter decorations, please remove them by Monday, March 4th at 7:00 AM. You will then be able to use your vases. In the event of bad weather, the cemetery will be cleaned without notice.

This year, GIVING TUESDAY, is the last day to sponsor Wreaths in time for this year’s Wreaths Across America Ceremony at Sky-View Memorial Park, Inc. in Tamaqua, PA.

What does it mean to sponsor a wreath?
It means you are supporting a yearlong mission to Remember the fallen, Honor those who serve, and Teach the next generation the value of freedom. Your sponsorship will support the new and existing programs developed to share the mission. And, it will place a wreath to honor an American hero at one of more than 3,700 participating locations this year on National Wreaths Across America Day – a day set aside to lay gathers as Americans with the same goal.
We can’t do that without your support, though. Your sponsorship will ensure a hand-crafted wreath of all-American balsam and hand-tied with a red velvet bow in Columbia Falls, Maine. It will then be sent to one of our participating locations, where a volunteer will place it on the marker of a hero. That volunteer will then “say their name” to ensure that the legacy of duty, service, and sacrifice is never forgotten.
So, what does it mean to sponsor a wreath? It means you have the opportunity to join a grateful nation in saying “thank you” to those who stepped up to serve.

On Wednesday, March 1, beginning at 7:00 AM, the cemetery staff will clean off all Christmas and winter decorations from the gravesites. They will be discarded and taken to the transfer station. Please remove them prior to that day if you wish to keep them. Thank you.

Beginning Tuesday, Nov. 1, our employees will remove all summer flowers and decorations from the cemetery and discard them. The vases will then be inverted down into the markers for the winter months. You can no longer use the vase until mid March. If you would like to keep anything that is on any gravesite, please remove your items before then. They will begin at 7:00 AM. on Nov. 1. In the event of bad weather that day, the cemetery will be cleaned without notice.
Wreaths Across America will be coming to Sky-View Memorial Park again this year. On National Wreath Laying Day, Saturday December 17, 2022, volunteers will take part in a brief ceremony of dedication and then lay wreaths on the bronze memorials of veterans who are laid to rest at Sky-View Memorial Park.Consider sponsoring a wreath or two or volunteering for the effort.
