Smoky Mountain Memories is the former residence of the founders of Mountain Laurel Chalets, Ralph and Dorothy Egli. The house has been painstakingly transformed into a retreat that honors their continuing legacy and provides the finest in vacation living. It is now part of The 100 Collection, a prestigious curation of rental properties across the US. As some of the first homeowners on Ski Mountain, the Egli's were blessed to secure a sizable piece of property that offers a sprawling side yard with fire pit, hot tub, and cozy woods. The upper level of the lot offers magnificent views of Mt. LeConte from a large party deck with rocking chairs. There’s even a quaint playhouse in the yard for children to enjoy! Effective June 2023, the gas grill has been removed due to increased bear activity in the area.
Upon entering the chalet, you’ll immediately feel as if you’ve returned home. The entry hall and sitting area set the mood for relaxation and peace. The open, airy kitchen attracts the culinary artists in your group who will love the sub-zero refrigerator, double ovens, and warming drawer. A few more steps takes you into the wood-lined sun room with a wall of windows that frame the beauty of the mountains, along with a gas fireplace will warm you up on cold nights.
Each king bedroom has a large screen smart TV on which you can access Netflix (with your account) and other online services, connected to the home’s robust WiFi. See the floor plan at the end of the pictures for layout.
The fun starts when you venture downstairs. A theater room with an 80” smart TV and 14 leather recliners takes movie night to a new level, or catch the latest ball game with the whole family. If billiards are your thing, hop on into the game room and rack ‘em up! You don’t have to worry about missing your favorite show, because there is another 50” TV and Foosball as well.
Tired from all that excitement? The downstairs sun room/reading room provides yet another opportunity to sit and relax while watching TV or looking for wildlife outside the picture windows that line the wall. There are two more king bedrooms downstairs, each with a private bath and television, and there is a bonus set of bunk beds in the large bedroom that brings the total number of people the house can sleep to 20.
The Eglis and their three children spent many happy years living, learning, and serving in their home, and they are pleased to now offer the same to you and your family.
