One of the best turkey days for us at Hooks n Bone! My clients from Arkansas hunted about 2 hours and tagged out! After they headed to zone 1 to hunt, Brooke and l got her bird to cross a road and come 250 yards for a 20 yard shot! I headed out after that alone and killed my bird at 3 yards behind my reaper! I’m thankful I got a chance to hunt one for myself and didn’t disappoint! What a day!! All this happened before 1pm!

Quick morning hunt for Norm! This was his first ever turkey hunt! And we got up close and personal with this bird! 8 yard shot at most! 10-5/8 beard, 1” spurs, 17 #. Congrats Norm

Sarah got her chance to experience the hog hunting on vacation as well! And was not disappointed!! This hunt was just as exciting! Walked about 2 miles along the river valley and managed to we get this good boar! Amazing time, amazing scenery, and amazing people!!! Till next time!!

“Action” this is a word I will always use now! I bumped into a local while on vacation, after chatting a bit he invited me to go with on a traditional Hawaiian dog and knife hog hunt! We had action let me tell you! Started at 6pm on Wednesday and ended at noon on Thursday! First thing we do in go straight down 3500 feet to the river valley! We camped about halfway through the trip! First time sleeping in a hammock! Surprisingly comfortable!Roughly 14 mile hiking, 14-15 river crossings, and cliff edges to walk on! The river crossings were supposed to be 1-2 feet deep but it rained through the night which turned them into 4-5 deep with very strong currents! Because of the river we took a safer route for the last 2 miles! Which included climbing up a a 30 foot rock wall, and walking a cliff edge that was 2 feet wide in spots and a couple hundred feet straight down, and finally hitting the switch backs all the way to the bottom again 1-2 feet wide! One of my guides even said as we crossed the river the last time “this is some real life and death s**t right here brotha”! My response? Well all I could say was “ACTION”!!!!!

It’s been to long since I hunted with this guy! So glad I got to be part of this hunt! Lots of laughs!! Big Al is tagged out! It was a good day in the turkey woods, lots of bulls@&ting and a little bit of turkey hunting yielded this great bird!! 23 #, 10” beard, and 1” spurs! Congratulations Big Al!!!

Youth season was not a bust for my nephew Brek, He killed his first turkey!! And a good one it is! 25 #, 1” spurs, 9-1/4” beard! Congratulations Brek! Can’t wait to tag along with you again!!

Caught this walleye trying to steal my minnows! 27-3/4” 7 pounds 15 ounces! Did all I could do to release this fish! Unfortunately she did not go on her own after 15 minutes! So I’m taking the big girl to the taxidermist! My biggest Wisconsin walleye through the ice!

Recap of 2023! Turkey season was a blast! Laid down a pile of birds! Bear season was the toughest we have ever had! 5 bear killed, two opportunity’s with no shot taken , and one miss! Worst bear kill is Wisconsin since 2006! (Per DNR). Deer season for us was much of the same! Tough! But fought through and managed to harvest a good buck! Even took a trip to Michigan again this time Sarah got her Buffalo!! Thanks to everyone that’s helps us out!!

2023-2024 season is a wrap ! Started the new year the same way I ended the old year! With a tag being punched! The new Mathew’s Lift that my wife bought me for Christmas did not disappoint! Sighted it in on Saturday , shot my buck on Sunday , shot my doe on Monday! Can’t wait till September 2024!

Ended 2023 with a bang! Public land 8 point! 12-31-2023 at 4:05, This was an end to a very long and frustrating season! It felt good to finally “let one eat”! Happy New Year to all!

Big thanks to David’s hog Wild! This is becoming an annual event for us! This one was a little more special. My wife Sarah took this awesome Bison and with her bow to top it off! These animals are huge!! I took a Jacob’s 4 horn as well. Not the cutest animal for sure!! Great day to be in the woods!! And a huge thanks to Rodney Rathbun with his assistance on the bison kill!!

Being a bear guide/outfitter is a very selfless job! Putting in hundreds of miles on foot, thousands of miles in a vehicle, countless hours scouting, searching, setting new baits. Whether it’s 50 degrees and raining or 106 degrees and sunny (both of which we ran our baits in) you get the job done!! Anyone that has ever ran a bear bait knows the work! Try running 25-26 baits! We can only drive to 4 of them so it’s a lot of foot work! We do this because we love it!! And we would never change that! It was a tough season for us in 2023! 4 bear killed with a few other missed opportunities! Three words on this tough season! Acorns, Acorns, Acorns!! My guys are still at it, so hopefully we can get a few more put on the ground!! Thanks to Everyone who helped this year!Could not have done it without you guys and gals!(to many names to name)! Thanks all again!
