Here's an interesting tip I received from my Garden Gate eNotes this week for those who would like to try growing your own perennials. (I think I'm going to have to give this a try; it sounds like a good way to start from seed without taking up space in the house!) Let us know if any of you try it and keep us posted in spring how things turn out!

How would you like to save money on plants? Start perennials from seed with this easy method: Plant your seeds in a milk jug, set it outside and let Mother Nature do the rest.

Fun Fact: Did you know that a Gallup survey reported that 62% of all U.S. homeowners felt that investments made in lawn and landscapes were as good or better than other home improvements? The investment recovery rate is 100-200% for landscape improvements, compared to 40-70% for a patio or a deck. Properly maintained landscaping adds 15% to a home's value according to buyers.

Looks like we will have cooler weather now! It's nice to have some relief from the 100 degree temperatures! We will start seeding lawns this month! If anyone needs any seeding or fall work done now is the time to call!

I hope this rain does wonders for everyone's yards. We needed this very badly.
