✅ Things to do: Attend Easter Mass at Westminster Abbey
📍London, England, United Kingdom
When we planned to be in London over Easter this year, on the top of my list was to attend Mass at Westminster Abbey. I did some research about what that entails and found that you can attend masses at no charge. You just have to go get in line 30-45 mins ahead of the service. There are no visitations on Easter Sunday, just the service. So if you want to plan a visit to Westminster Abbey, make sure you get tickets for a tour ahead of time on a day they’re allowing visitors. It’s all on their website. Last time we were here, we were not able to get in, so I would def recommend getting your tickets ahead of time if this is a must-do. We planned on going to Mass, so I didn’t get tickets on another day. We attended the “Sung Eucharist” service. There were several options to choose from during Holy Week. (Again the info for services is all on the website) We arrived 45 mins ahead, went through security and got in line. We had fantastic seats in the front. They do not allow you to take photos before or during mass. I did not realize this at first, so I did get a few pics before getting scolded. (oops, sorry) 😬 We were allowed to take a few snaps on the way out. These are not the best pics but I was there for mass, not photos. Next time I will take the tour so I can get photos to share with you all! Westminster Abbey is a gorgeous work of art both inside and out. I absolutely have never enjoyed a mass more than I did today. The organ is incredible, they had an orchestra and the choir was just beautiful. It was truly a treat and a privilege to attend services at this incredible place.

🏰🇬🇧 It’s like taking a walk into the past…
📍Tower of London
Dating back to 1078, the Tower of London has been a big part of British History. It is one of my favorite places to visit when in London. I always learn something new. The Yeoman Warders live on site and are there to guard the Tower. They also greet visitors! It is a great honor to be selected as a Yeoman. One having only been bestowed to a few hundred people in the history of the Tower. They must serve 22 years of exemplary service in the Royal Army and achieve a specific rank to even be considered for the privilege of being a Yeoman Warder. Throughout the day, you can catch one of their tours where they will give you a brief history and tell you some tales about the tower. I highly recommend taking advantage of this tour. It is very interesting and it is included in your admission! You can also see the Crown Jewels here. In the White Tower, you will see the line of Kings, which has armour, weapons and arms displayed dating all the way back to the time of King Arthur! You can also tour the section that was once a palace. There is so much to do and will easily take up half a day. We always buy tickets in advance so we know when our timed entry will be. I recommend giving yourself several hours for this historical site. We did almost everything and it took us about 3.5 hours. So if you’re a big history buff, give yourself 3-4 hours. Definitely add this to your London Itinerary. It is absolutely a “can’t miss” activity.

🇬🇧🫖☕️A spot of tea for my girl and me…
📍
Afternoon Tea is one of the most popular things to do in London. We went to the English Rose Cafe and Tea Room after watching the Changing of the Guard near Buckingham Palace. This cute little cafe was right by the Palace, so it was the perfect thing to do after watching the old and new guard switch places. The English Rose does not take reservations, it is first come first serve. There was a little bit of a line, about a half hour wait. But since we had a small party of two it took us about 15 - 20 mins to get a table. We opted for the full Afternoon Tea experience which includes a pot of tea each and the tiered tray that afternoon tea is famous for. The bottom tier contains finger sandwiches, the middle tray has sweets/cakes and the top tray has scones with Jam and Clotted Cream. This will run you 25 pounds a person. The food was tasty, the tea was the perfect pick-me-up and we even took some scones and a sausage roll back to the room with us. This was Sam’s first experience with afternoon tea and we will definitely be doing it again. We really enjoyed this experience and would definitely go back here!

Here are some sights from around the city… we are staying above Charing Cross Station in the Claremont. 🚂 Paris -> London via Eurostar: How to…
Today, we said Au revoir to Paris and Cheerio to London! London is my favorite city in the world so although I didn’t want to leave Paris, at least I was heading somewhere great. 👍🏼 We had a driver take us to Gare du Nord in Paris where we boarded the train. It was really easy to navigate the station. I barely speak any French, and I was able to figure it out. You walk in and there is a large UK flag and an arrow pointing to Hall 2, which is where the UK trains live. They recommended 60 mins ahead but we actually got there 120 mins ahead and I’m really glad we did. The line was long when we got there but was completely wrapped around the station by the time we left. If you’re planning on taking the Eurostar to London from Paris, give yourself more time than you need bc you never know. Now, our experience may have been atypical because there was an issue with the passport scanner at border control, but I was really glad for the extra time. They will guide you through the line scanning your passport twice; once at the French border control and then again at UK Border control. After going through security, you head to your departure gate. Once you get past security if you have to do your duty/tax refund for large purchases, there is a desk there to do so. There are a few little cafes there to get snacks while you wait to board. There are also snacks on board the train in the cafe car. Restrooms are an onboard amenity as well as free wifi. I was able to stream music via Spotify the whole time wo a problem. Score for me! The seats were comfortable, there was plenty of storage and I was happy with our smooth, quick, easy ride to London. I would take Eurostar again and definitely recommend trying it out.
Have you taken Eurostar railway? Where did you go???

🇫🇷 Best view in Paris???
It depends on who you ask, honestly. If you can do both the Arc De Triomphe AND the Eiffel Tower, go for it and let me know what you think! Personally, I loved the view from the top of the Arc de Triomphe. I would definitely recommend this if going up in the Eiffel Tower is not on your bucket list. Of course I wanted to see Eiffel and take photos, but I really wanted a great panoramic view of Paris. (And I didn’t want it to take half my day!) We got tickets ahead of time so the wait was not long. (It was WAY shorter than the line for the Eiffel Tower!) We climbed the stairs to the top. There were around 300, but it wasn’t too bad! The nice thing is, the arc is as “in the middle” as you can get! So you can get fantastic 360° views of the city. And as someone mentioned to me… “this is the better view if you ask me. You can’t take a picture of the Eiffel Tower FROM the Eiffel Tower.” So you have that icon in the background of your photos! And honestly it took us maybe 10 minutes to get into the Arc. (I bought our tickets ahead of time) We spent maybe an hour and a half there. So if you couldn’t get tickets to Eiffel or they were sold out, don’t fret! Go to the arc; the views are amazing!!!

🇫🇷 French pastry class? Oui, sil vous plait!
Today we did something special. We took a cooking class from a French pastry chef! It was so much fun and we all learned something new. We chose the macaron class. She taught us step by step how it’s done, taught us the proper techniques to stir but not over blend, how to bake, and then how to assemble. They supplied everything- all ingredients, we made 3 different fillings, all cooking utensils, apron, lesson by the chef herself and a little box to take our creations home. I highly recommend adding this to your Paris trip! It is a truly unforgettable experience and was so much fun to to as a family. And yes, I can book this for you too!

🇫🇷🥐❤️ Paris is always a good idea!
Exploring the city of Paris this week. We started in Montmartre, where we are staying. We started off with breakfast at Vrai Paris Cafe where we all had our first “real” French croissants 🥐! Took a walk through Montmartre and saw Sacre Cour, a gorgeous white cathedral on a hill. We walked through, lit some candles and then climbed the almost 300 steps to the dome where we admired the view of the Paris! Next we walked through the area around there where there are shops, cafes and street artists. Our room was not quite ready yet so we decided to go find the Moulin Rouge!!! I am obsessed w the Moulin Rouge thanks to the movie and the musical lol so I had to see it. We got back to our hotel, which I LOVE. (That will be a whole other post!) after relaxing and napping, we headed out to dinner and took an evening stroll. We caught the Moulin Rouge again all lit up ❤️

Follow along w the rest of my journey in my story and right here. I’ll be doing a daily post so make sure to check back!

⭐️Fun and FREE in DC ⭐️
If you’re looking for something fun to do for a long weekend that isn’t going to cost you an arm and a leg, consider visiting Washington DC! 🇺🇸 Aside from it being “Our Nation’s Capital”, it has lots to see and do and a lot of it is FREE!
Once you get the hotel room, the rest is very low cost. The Smithsonian Museums are free and there are many to choose from with varying subjects from art to history to culture. There are food trucks EVERYWHERE so it’s easy to get a quick snack or cheap meal before heading into a museum where you’ll pay lots more in the cafes. It is super easy to get around. You can walk, Uber, or ride the scooters. We did all 3! Here are all the things we did in 48 hours in Washington DC!!!
🛴rode scooters (used the Lyft & Uber ones)
🇺🇸saw national landmarks: The White House, Washington Monument, Capital Building, National Mall
🌸 checked out the gorgeous blooming cherry blossom trees which are everywhere
🎨 went to the Smithsonian Asian Art Museum
🍽️ lunch at a great little cafe called Teaism (5 stars highly recommend!)
🕌 visited Smithsonian Natural History Museum
🌿 visited United States Botanical Garden

Lunch and the scooters are all we had to pay for in that list! Yes, you can get tours to get a deeper understanding of what you’re looking at and the history behind it. But if you’re doing DC on the cheap, it’s really easy to fill your days with fun and free stuff to do. Would you consider heading to DC for a few days???

Berlin Must Do:
The East Side Gallery
This is a preserved section on the East side of the former Berlin Wall. When the wall came down it was decided that this part of the wall would stay and local artists would paint murals along the remaining sections. There is graffiti along the other side of the wall. This area is along the Spree River. There is a bar and a hostel there along the River. It’s a great place to come and hang out with friends or sit and draw or write. There are at times street musicians playing music as well!

That thing I did that I never even knew was on my bucket list.… So today I was on the parade float in Universal Orlando’s Mardi Gras parade. I was a little apprehensive at first, but this turned out to be something I really enjoyed. I met some cool people from Ohio, got to throw beads into the crowd, and was a part of the parade in a way I never thought I would be. I have to say, this was one of the most fun things I’ve ever done at Universal. Highly recommend the experience, five stars!
