Wandering Way Adventures

Wandering Way Adventures is the brain child of Wanda Cox. Wanda Cox has always had a love and passion for travel and customer service. In 2000 when her then 2 year twins were still toddling around she felt the need to go back to school and earn a degree in Travel and Tourism. Wanda graduated in December 2000 and really had no plans of returning to the corporate world other than a major domestic airline at the time came calling. After carefully considering her options she felt the time was right to re-enter the corporate world and she began her career in the airline industry.

After working in the airline industry for a little over a year in Austin, TX Wanda found herself in some unpleasant personal situations and she had to make the decision to relocate. She went in and spoke with her station manager and explained the circumstances and explained that she was having to relocate unfortunately with or without a job. On the advise of the station manager in Austin she contacted the station manager in Lubbock. The station manager was actually on the job board for the entire company getting ready to post a position in which was what Wanda was doing so she was able to do a lateral transfer within the company to Lubbock, TX and her move was approved.

Wanda was with the company for another 2 years when she was promoted to a Customer Service Supervisor and took many extensive courses on dealing with customers that were unhappy, unruly, difficult and so forth. Wanda held this position for 8 years until she left the company in March of 2012. Wanda became a career student after leaving the airline industry.

Once leaving the airline industry Wanda enrolled in massage therapy school and spent the next 6 months in school, completing her internship and taking the nation board exam. Due to not completing two weeks of schooling Wanda was trying to finish up her hours that she lacked in order to receive her diploma and submit it to the Texas licensing office to receive her license. She had prepared to handle everything on a Monday and the Saturday before she and the kids were involved in a very serious auto accident. They were stopped at a red right waiting to turn left when a teenage driver who was texting ran a red light. She T-boned a car in the intersection but was going so fast it didn’t stop her. She hit Wanda and the kids head-on and she spun around hitting the driver’s side door and embedding the driver’s side mirror into the window. She then flipped riding Wanda’s Yukon XL to the top before flipping and skidding on the top of her vehicle 150 yards before coming to a stop. The driver of that vehicle who just had all the windows blown out of her vehicle and the sunroof had a minor 2” scratch on her arm and was more worried about finding her cellphone. It was estimated that when she hit Wanda’s vehicle she was going 70-80 mph and had already totaled 2 vehicles which should have slowed her momentum. In the accident she fractured her neck in two locations as well as fracturing her lower back. She has spent the last almost 7 years having 7 different surgeries, countless injections and other therapies to try and eliminate the pain that is a constant reminder of the accident. She also has a spinal cord stimulator that tells her brain that she is not in pain and has helped her detox off the high potent narcotic pain medication. She has 2 plates and 2 fusions in her neck, a triple level fusion in her lower back and pins and screws in her left ankle from a fall that was caused by the side effects of some medication that she was on. Through all of the surgeries and healing time Wanda has been working on her Bachelor’s of Science degree and lacks 24 hours to complete.
