On Tuesday, the Mobile City Council authorized a new, multi-year agreement with Carnival Cruise Line ahead of the Carnival Spirit's first departure from the Port of Mobile next month. 🛳️ Historically, the city and Carnival have had year-to-year contracts. This five-year berthing agreement, which includes an option for two additional one-year extensions, shows that the cruiseliner sees Mobile as part of its future.
For the city, it will mean an increase in revenue generated from parking and wharfage when Carnival ships are in port. Restaurants, retailers, and hotels downtown and beyond will all feel a positive economic impact once cruises resume sailing out of Mobile again on October 6, 2023. For passengers, the cruise packages offered aboard the Carnival Spirit will be some of the best our area has seen. Carnival Spirit, a newer and larger ship, is offering unique 5,6,8, and 12-day Itineraries to destinations like Belize, Roatan, Costa Maya, Key West, Half Moon Cay, Grand Turk, Aruba and more.
We are proud of our longstanding relationship with Carnival, and this new agreement proves that relationship is stronger than ever.
