When it comes to planning your dream cruise vacation, I know that one of the biggest concerns can be the consistency and quality across different cruise providers. After all, your time and money are precious!

Here’s how I take the guesswork out of choosing the right cruise for you:

As part of my commitment to delivering exceptional travel experiences, I personally visit various ships throughout the year. These visits allow me to perform detailed inspections, from evaluating cabin comfort to sampling onboard dining and entertainment. By stepping onboard or sailing myself, I gain firsthand knowledge of each ship’s unique offerings and quality standards.

In 2024 so far I have conducted ship inspections on a Viking expedition ship (that sails the Great Lakes as well as Antarctica), over 12 river cruise ships, sailed with AmaWaterways River Cruises and have stayed on Riverside Luxury Cruises, was a guest on the inaugural sailing of Royal Caribbean's Icon of the Seas, sailed on Silversea's Silver Muse in Alaska, Celebrity Cruises and Virgin Voyages in the Caribbean, and I'm looking forward to another Western Caribbean sailing for an industry conference later this fall. Oh, and don't forget the ship inspections coming up in November as part of CruiseWorld 2024, one of the largest professional cruise conferences in North America.

Like most of you, I am always engaging in Professional Training. To further enhance my expertise, I maintain my CLIA (Cruise Lines International Association) certification as an Accredited Cruise Counselor (ACC), and participate in continuous cruise line-specific training. The PACE Foundation in Nassau, Bahamas provides access to continued education programs for 25 teen mothers. In addition to helping with coping mechanisms, the Centre prepares its student mothers academically and socially for re-entry into secondary school, a technical and vocational center or the job market. Together we can help prevent absenteeism that can interrupt their developmental progress by donating feminine care products which are sometimes expensive and out of their reach.

So I’m no photographer, but man, it’s a beautiful morning on Lake St. Clair today and I had to take a few pictures! I had a meeting at The War Memorial in Grosse Pointe Farms and I was enthralled with the Les Braves II sculpture. Many of you history buffs and world travelers will recognize this as the twin sculpture to Les Braves at Omaha Beach. On this sunny day, let us never forget the sacrifices made at Omaha Beach 🇺🇸❤️

I am so grateful to have such amazing clients.

I woke up to a note from a client who recently came home from a trip to Europe with his family. Unfortunately, a few snafuses occurred during his vacation.

I was determined to jump in and ensure the client was appropriately reimbursed for the disruptions to his trip. His response was refreshing and kind. He acknowledged that while I could not have controlled some of the issues that occurred, my response, customer service, and follow-up, helped to make things right.

I‘ve been called many things in my life, and I‘ll happily take the title "the cruise lady" any day of the week.

It‘s all in a day‘s work because while it may look like I‘m just sipping drinks by the pool, I‘m observing, learning, and making mental notes for my clients.

This year I have sailed on six different cruise lines. So what am I looking for?

Which specialty restaurants are worth an upcharge? How does the crew manage food allergies? Are there quality non-alcoholic drinks at the bar in addition to amazing craft cocktails?

What are the entertainment venues on the ship? Is there a kids' program? Are the ship's shore excursions worth the price, or should we book with a local tour operator?

Are higher room category cabins or suites worth the price tag? How does the Butler service onboard work?

This is what travel nightmares are made of.

Sometimes travel issues can't be avoided, but having a trusted professional on your team can be a lifesaver!

I have a bit of a controversial take on luxury travel by land or the sea.

I’m a pretty big believer that luxury travel isn’t always 5-star resorts, or small ships and first-class tickets (although all of those are nice!).

Luxury can be as simple as having someone else plan and book all the details for your trip so there’s no stress on your shoulders.

Luxury can be an itinerary tailored perfectly to you, without you having to lift one finger.

Luxury can be as simple as seamless logistics, where all the details are planned and organized for you without any stress or wasted time.

Just know that whether your idea of luxury is the 5-star resorts, a cruise suite with a personal butler, or simply all of the things listed above, I’m a DM or email away and ready to assist!

Sometimes the best adventures are found in your own backyard. We had a lovely anniversary dinner last night at @BARDAdetroit complete with flaming, gluten free “burnt” Alaska 😻

Pesky summer travel hiccups + what to do about them ➡️ Seat Swap Surprises So, you’ve checked in online and picked your seats, but then you get to the airport and... surprise! They’ve changed. What to Do: Head straight to the gate desk (not the ticketing counter). Gate agents are your best friends here—they can help fix the seating situation or find someone willing to switch seats. ➡️ Your bags are MIA What to do: Find the airline’s baggage desk near the baggage claim area and file a claim before you leave the airport. If you can’t locate the desk, call the airline ASAP to report your missing luggage. Hang on to those receipts for any essentials you need to buy—just keep it reasonable (no designer splurges, unfortunately). Then, when you’re back, file a claim with your travel insurance. ➡️ Delayed and cancelled flights What to do: Check the Department of Transportation (DOT) Dashboard: If the delay is within the airline’s control, the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Airline Customer Service Dashboard will show you what each airline should do to make it up to you. ➡️ Not Loving Your Hotel Room Your room’s not up to par? Here’s how to get it sorted What to do: Ask for the manager. Call from your room or go to the front desk and ask to speak to a manager. Be specific about the issues and honest about what resolution you’re seeking. ➡️ Rental Car Issues What to do: If your rental car isn’t what you expected, contact the rental company’s customer service. They might be able to upgrade or switch your vehicle. Always check the car for damage before driving off the lot and report any issues immediately. I hope you don't encounter any of these hiccups this summer but in case you do, use this as your quickstart guide to problem-solving. Enjoy these blissful summer days!

When solving problems is as simple as a week in the gorgeous Caribbean! Which island would you choose? I'd choose the Dominican Republic, which coincidentally is where my clients are jetting off to this week. What's your pick?

You ask, would I like an Aperol spritz while watching the sunset from my balcony on a small ship in the Med? YES PLEASE! (Seriously, what' s there to think about?) Let's make it happen this year!

That one thing? Working with a travel advisor who has the right cruise industry knowledge and connections! I recently saved my clients thousands on their family spring break cruise. How? First - booking at least six months ahead. Long gone are the days of the last minute bargain -- today what you get by booking late are the proverbial sloppy seconds. When you book 6-12 months in advance, you get the cabin you want, as well as the lowest price available. As cabin categories fill up, the dynamic price structure will also increase. That ocean view cabin for three passengers might be $7k today, and in two months, that same cabin is over $10k. Second, I have access to special rates designated for my travel agency that are below published fares. Yes, even below "sale" prices. One client asked me about a current promotion for her cruise, and the current "deal" was over $2k more than what she paid for her cabin. And third, by planning your trip with me as a preferred travel partner, I can book 1) loyalty rates 2) offer incentives on certain cruise lines with strategic partnerships and 3) offer onboard credits with various cruise lines based on sail date and availability. That could be an extra $50, or an extra $600+ depending upon the cruise line!

Not nearly enough people talk about European Fall. ✅ The ramblas and piazzas are a little less crowded. ✅ The cafes and restaurants are a little more peaceful. ✅ The lineups for major attractions are less busy. And with how busy Europe is expected to be this summer, Fall really is looking all the more appealing. I already have clients booked on Mediterranean cruises as well as guided tours throughout Europe this autumn, if you're interested in a Fall adventure, don't hesitate to send me a DM.
