Hi everyone! 👋

We have a bunch of new followers and interest on our page so I wanted to introduce ourselves again since it's been a year. We are the proud owners of the Vernon Lake Cabin. My name is Alyssa Genova and I am a realtor here in Louisiana with Rhodes Realty in Leesville. My husband, Justin Genova, is an active duty soldier stationed at Fort Johnson. We have been here for a little over 2 years. We have two wonderful boys together. We are originally from Vermont.

As a realtor here, I have had the opportunity to help dozens and dozens of military families and the local community purchase and sell their homes over these last two years. After spending a couple years as a realtor, I wanted to take a leap into the investing world. I honestly went into it completely blind and had no idea what I was doing. Neither did my husband! And the project we took on with the cabin was bold because it wasn't like we were just updating some things with a home, we were literally building and finishing a new construction.

We are so thankful for all the help from the seller and the bank and my wonderful husband for getting this project completed. We hope that you guys love the cabin and enjoy staying in it! We have received an outpouring of support from the community. So thank you so much for that!

I also want to encourage anyone that is second-guessing their dreams or hesitant to take a leap out of their comfort zone to go for it. You might fail, but you will never know until you try. As cliche as that sounds, I went into this project completely blind and now we are going to start a whole business of cabins around the country. Becoming an investor ignited this whole series of goals I didn't think I would ever accomplish. And now I am completely confident that I can do anything I set my mind to. And you can too!

We love our cozy cabin!

The kitchen has all the amenities you could need. We also have a nespresso coffee maker for all those avid coffee drinkers :) we have plenty of room in the pull-out pantry for food storage. We have a stove/oven, fridge, dishwasher, microwave, and toaster as well. The laundry room has a full size washer and dryer too!

The living room features a couch with a pull-out queen bed and fireplace with lots of space to cozy up and watch a movie or read a book. The breakfast bar has a beautiful view of the front yard of the cabin and so much natural light pours in through the cabins huge windows!

Here are some more photos of the upstairs loft. Lots of space and we just assembled this beautiful wood dresser for guests to use. There is a closet to the right with a place to hang your clothes as well. We are just getting the finishing touches done for the cabin to be ready by this coming weekend. Stay tuned for the open house date:-)

Sneak peek of the cabin! We are finishing up the exterior aesthetics and the cable railing going up to the loft. Everything is so close to being done! We are just a couple weeks out from opening this to bookings. Just in time for the holidays :-) message me if you would like to get on the list to book. Currently, we are wide open for dates. Cabin rates will be $150 per night. Our cabin will be able to host up to four people. Pets at this time, are not allowed, however we are considering individual situations depending on how well behaved your pet is and if they are service animals. This cabin is ideal for a couple to get away and enjoy a luxury experience.

We are so close everyone! We've had LOTS of set backs but we are SOOOO CLOSE to opening the cabin up for bookings! My husband and I have been hard at work every single day getting projects finished.

Do you guys remember seeing pictures of the narrow closet in the cabin? It's extremely narrow and very deep. My husband is a little Carpenter genius and built this movable cart and designed the door so we could utilize the space as best as possible. So impressed with this design! We still need to paint the door.

I am long overdue for an update on the cabin. We have been hard at work though! This week, my husband laid the flooring, we had the split AC unit installed, we had the granite countertops measured, we stained the exposed beams, and we scheduled the bathroom to get started this friday!

I really can't take credit for all the renovations that have been underway. My husband has been a trooper in getting so much of this completed! Please enjoy the updated photos and although we are way behind schedule to opening the cabin to the community, our goal is to open it October 1st and have an open house to celebrate.
