Join in on the same personalized small group service without the high price of a private excursion! At your stop in Livorno on the west coast of Tuscany, come and explore 2 famous cities of Florence and Pisa. You’ll meet at your Livorno cruise terminal to start your amazing day. Your guide will be waiting right outside your ship's gangway area. Once everyone in your small group has checked in, the
fun day begins. Some of the biggest advantages to booking this excursion rather than the large, ship sponsored excursion is a lower price and this excursion is no more than 8 people maximum to allow the passenger vans used to park close to the important points of interest. A van of just 8 is much better than a bus full of 40 too. Hear all from the guide and see more. If you have more than 8 in your party then please see Livorno Best of Florence and Pisa Sightseeing Excursion S2030. Or see our private options listed in similar excursions below. The first stop is Florence, a 2-hour drive away, in which the driver will give commentary and a restroom break will be given half way. During your walk of the city, you’ll see the most famous of its buildings – del Duomo – a significant symbol for Florence and its traditions. The Piazza del Duomo is located in the heart of the city and is dominated by the Duomo, cathedral, with its magnificent Renaissance dome or cupola. You’ll observe the Baptistery from outside, a minor octagonal basilica that is located in both the Piazza del Duomo and the Piazza San Giovanni. The next plaza to visit is the Piazza Della Signoria, the most important locale of the origin and history of the Florentine Republic and the city's political heart. Here you’ll see the fortress-palace that’s the town hall - Palazzo della Signoria. Designed in 1298 for the seat of the Republican government it has been the center of political life in Florence since the 14th century. From the square, you’ll walk to the oldest bridge in Florence, Ponte Vecchio. This medieval stone closed arch bridge over the Arno River has shops built along it selling jewelry, art, and souvenirs. It was reconstructed after a flood in 1333 but is still renowned for the architecture and wonderful photo opportunities. Before your last stop in Florence, you’ll have a 45-minute lunch break. You can choose the restaurant of your choice as it’s at your option and expense. The driver will be happy to make recommendations based on your preferences. After, you’ll meet back at a pre-arranged spot to continue to the last landmark - the Square of Santa Croce. It’s one of the largest squares in the city and is used for organized festivities, tournaments, and games like the annual football game played here since the 15th century. You’ll have an outside view of the Basilica of Santa Croce, the largest Franciscan church in the world with its sixteen chapels. Housed here are also the tombs of famous Italians like Gioacchino Rossini, composer; Galileo Galilei, astronomer, physicist and engineer; and Michelangelo, sculptor, painter, architect, and poet. The last stop is the city of Pisa where you’ll have a short 20-minute walk to the Field of Miracles, Piazza del Duomo, at the edge of this old medieval town. The most famous structure is the bell tower, the Leaning Tower of Pisa. You’ll have one-hour free time for photos and to see the Duomo, the Baptistery of San Giovanni, and the Camposanto ( cemetery ) also located in the square. Your return to your Livorno cruise terminal takes about 30 minutes from Pisa. This two-city excursion of Florence and Pisa will give you a chance to soak in some Italian culture and history. Come visit and photograph some of the most famous landmarks in the world.
