Big news in Galveston! 🚢
Norwegian Cruise Line is set to make waves with a new long-term agreement to homeport from the upcoming Terminal 16, opening in November 2025!
Norwegian ships—including those from Oceania and Regent Seven Seas Cruises—will homeport from Galveston, joining other major cruise lines like MSC, Disney, and Royal Caribbean.
With this $156 million terminal, Galveston is gearing up to welcome over 2 million passengers annually, making it a key cruise hub in the Lone Star State!

Galveston! You have so much more to do than I ever knew!

First off, how have I never been to The Galvez!! I guess I tend to go back to what I know. I will be changing that up!
This hotel is beautiful! And did you know that many say it’s haunted!?!?

Speaking of haunted, Galveston has ghost tours, dolphin tours and sunset boat tours.

Not into haunted but like learning about unique places? We met and spent the weekend with a local author who gives tours on everything Galveston.

Spent the day touring Carnival Miracle and some Galveston hotels.

The Miacle is such a FUN ship. One of my favorite areas the Mad Hatter Lounge - the the decor.
Lunch was incredibly good as well. Never miss a chance to eat Carnival’s Molten Chocolate Lava Cake!

Our last couple days in Costa Rica were spent in Quepos, on the pacific coast.
More lush tropical views with the ocean in the background.
I’d say we took a break from learning to have a little fun, but the Costa Rica education continued on our morning on the catamaran while seeing a Momma and baby humpback whale.

The Parador Resort has some local wildlife, Pedro the Iguana and Flash the Sloth.

While in Monteverde we reviewed 3 hotels - all with a different vibe. So many hiking trails and wildlife to see. Food was very good and just ❤️ the people.

El Trapiche Tour was so interesting despite the heavy afternoon rains.

Homemade traditional Costa Rican Casado lunch cooked by the owners followed by a walk through the coffee plantation & growing to roasting process, cocoa and sugarcane processes.

The sampling of the coffee, cocoa & sugar cane was the best part!

Oh and moonshine! 😜

Moving on from Arenal towards the Pacific side to Monteverde Cloud Forest.

Our day started with a boat ride across Lake Arenal, a small hike, refreshments at a roadside bar and a ‘Costa Rican Road Massage’ from winding, narrow and bumpy roads as we made our way up to rhe higher elevations.

After reaching the cloud forest area, we toured a coffee, chocolate & sugar cane plantation that included a traditional Costa Rican lunch made my the plantation owners and served in their kitchen.

Use a professional driver that knows the roads to get you around! The education they provided is amazing and your vacation will be far far less stressful.

Today’s Costa Rica learning themes were adventure and relaxation. Started the day zip lining at Sky Adventures followed by a nature walk to a swinging bridge. Thanks to our amazingly knowledgeable guide, Steven, who spotted a couple spider monkeys. They moved fast so it was hard to get a good pic, but they stopped for a minute to have a snack.
