Paddling the Black River - St. Clair River loop. The sediment gate for the canal is still broken, so there’s a bit of a portage. It’s a fun paddle. It was kinda cool this morning but I still had to jump in the river afterwards anyways.

I’ve had great luck lately with rings. Two rings in two days in less than two minutes total underwater. If the person who dropped the ring knows where they lost it, I can find it. It often takes a little longer though!

Kayaking or wading down small rivers as always a great time, and a decent workout. It was slow going on the Pine River with all the portages. We didn’t get very far but it was a lot of fun.

There are a few spots open for August backpacking trips!

Negwegon at Night on August 9th - 11th and August 16th - 18th, plus a new Q***r Community Backpacking trip at Negwegon, from August 23rd - 25th.

All three trips are beginner-friendly (relaxed and low-mileage), include food and gear, and are a lot of fun! Negwegon is a beautiful state park on the shore of Lake Huron; the first two trips are perfect for stargazing during the Perseid meteor shower.

I’m not sure when they quit making those phones (and those holsters), but I bet it was a while ago. My client today had buried her sunglasses pretty good with a net and unearthed these treasures at the same time. I did find her glasses but it took a bit longer than usual. That plate is from the waterfront restaurant we were at. They didn’t want it back.. at Club Capri Restaurant

Had a great morning on Lake St. Clair. I paddled a bit before my class with David. He’s learning how to paddle (and get back into) his first kayak. It was so fun to work with him for the first class of the year. The fish flies are back!

I’ve been cleaning the hulls of some sailboats before their races, very early in the morning because their event start early. I’m glad to have underwater headphones so I can listen to music during it.

It seems like there hasn’t been a ton of boating with all the storms, so today I did an inspection of a waterfront property’s swim area. I took photos of a few things the new owner should be aware of, and removed a rusty saw blade that was right by their stairs!

A few months ago, I did an interview and some filming for a news segment at Riverside Marina, it hasn’t aired yet. I hope it does because diving in March was really cold 😆 A couple of weeks ago I met up with a reporter from a different station, Fox2Detroit, at Metro Beach for another, much warmer, interview:

Lisa Eick has recovered phones, jewelry, wallets, guns, and even false teeth over the years while diving in Southeast Michigan. Her busiest season is fast approaching and she's prepared to find anything.

I stayed busy diving all day yesterday, mostly getting phones. These two were at the same slip. The phone in the black case had just been dropped, the purple one had been lost last year. I was able find it deep in the muck with a metal detector.

Had a great time yesterday at two back-to-back vendor shows; although I did take a break from the St. Clair Shores Social District event at Downtown St. Clair Shores to stop in at Emerald City Harbor and dive for a phone.

Thanks to Freedom Boat Club Lake St. Clair for doing a great event! And thanks to Emily and Jason for helping out with the booths. Emily will be guiding this year’s backpacking trips.

This morning at Belle Isle I saw what I thought was an RC boat from a distance.. it was disappointing to find out it was a log!

I had a great morning, with a short paddle and then my first swim (not counting diving) of the season. With a 5 mm wetsuit and hood it wasn’t bad!

What a great sunrise yesterday. I love opening the windows at my house and spending most of the day outside enjoying the warm weather. I guess the cold months help us appreciate it more!

I’m loving being back in the water lately! Today I was helping these guys clear out a slip instead of searching for something specific. With the lower water, it’s a good idea to check your slip for debris.
