This nice fish (bass?) distracted me briefly from a seawall inspection I was videoing. It’s so nice to be back in the water 🐠
Mystery animal
When I was kayaking the Green River in Utah in November, I got just a glimpse of this animal. It looks like a mammal but I couldn’t tell what it was. Any guesses? Beaver maybe?
Some video from diving in the St. Clair River. We went out to the beginning of a shipwreck. The current is very strong in the river, but it’s a lot of fun seeing so many fish.

My friend made this video of a dive job I did recently, helping to remove a hoist. The hoist had become split into two parts. We also removed a log that was in the area, and I found a wrench that had been dropped a few days prior.
Swallows nesting in a riverbank. Very cool sight!
Found these tadpoles while wading the Mill Creek. What kind of frog will they turn into?
I’ve been enjoying my dive calls lately, and have been able to get plenty of dropped phones, keys, and other items back to their owners. If you lose something, give me a call or text at 586-873-8110!
40 degrees with 40 mph wind gusts made for a cold first day of camping! Fortunately it warmed up the next couple of days. This video of Superior was taken from pretty high up, they were some decent size waves!
Looking forward to getting back here! This is a nice video taken on our last trip to the Porcupine Mountains. There have been a couple of last minute cancellations on our previously full upcoming women’s backpacking trips/yoga retreats (with cabin lodging). Dates are Oct 6-9 and 11-14; if you’re interested, check out the site for more info: https://www.maidenvoyageadventures.com/wild-heart
What kind of fish? Carp? They seemed to be traveling upstream primarily, I’m assuming it’s spawning time for them. It was really neat to see them moving through such shallow water. This river was full of these fish.
I was so excited to see this porcupine last year on a solo camping trip. It was early and I had just started hiking for the day.
Little ice floes floating down the Clinton River a couple of days ago 😱
Lake St. Clair is pretty wavy today! If it were only 50 degrees warmer it could be be a fun paddling day 😂
I saw this opossum on a cold morning hike today. They’re nocturnal; maybe this one was late getting home? I was listening to an audiobook and not paying attention, I’m glad I noticed it.
I do need to dig out the rest of my winter hiking clothes, it was cold today!

Had an awesome experience a few days ago while kayaking in the Everglades! It was amazing being so close to dolphins, for such a long time. It’s also a good reminder of how graceless and out of our element we really are on the water.
