RLE Big Fish Adventures first and foremost is a name that represents my initials RLE and its my play on words for the word (Really). I moved to Clewiston Florida in 2010 and fell in love with chasing giant largemouth bass that dwell in one of the most beautiful lakes on this earth! The South Florida weather treats me well as I have spent many more days than I can count in below freezing temperatures on the water in Pennsylvania or the back woods in a deer stand. I consider myself somewhere between a Floridian and a snowbird that just didn't make the return flight home.
I have been blessed to have had some of the best mentors in fishing especially when targeting massive largemouth bass in southern bodies of water. I originally spent roughly 4 years at Roland Martins Marina in Clewiston FL where I met some of the best guides in the country. Several of them took me under their wing and taught me the lake, ways to approach these giant bass with wild Golden Shiners, and several tips and tricks that only those who have spent years on these bodies of water know. I have been very fortunate to have had some professional world class anglers take me in and treat me like family. I learned techniques on flipping matts, working top water plugs, fishing a worm, when to fish what lure, the list goes on and on. I absorbed all of it like a sponge and made myself into the best angler that I feel I am capable of being both for sport in tournaments as well as on guided trips down to fun fishing with a buddy. I have put my life into learning to fish in South Florida with a focus on Lake Okeechobee.
I moved to the North End of Lake Okeechobee 3 plus years ago to be able to learn the north end of the lake like I now the south end. This lake is unforgiving to an inexperienced boater and even to the most experienced of them all at times. I learned the south end from Pahokee rocks all the way up to past Harney Pond while I was living in Clewiston and I know that end like the back of my hand. My move to the north end was so that I was able to spend these last 3 years zoning in on all the different ways this lake can fish when you are 30 plus miles away from the south end. I am glad that I took the time to move to the north end so that now I can say that I can run around on this lake at any lake level to any of the prime fishing areas holding giant bass and know it is safe to do so. This lake is shallow and the water levels fluctuate with the South Florida Water Management schedules as well as mother nature so I put in my time to be able to know where to go and when to go there at every water level.
I have spent the better part of the last 10 years of my life if not longer into studying largemouth bass habits, habitat and ways to be able to catch the biggest and or most possible in that given day. Being able to adapt in any given situation on a lake as massive as one like Lake Okeechobee is something that sets apart those who put in their time and do not. I have made it my mission to put as much time out there as humanly possible to be one of the best guides and angler that I can be.
