In the coming weeks, Disneyland Resort and Walt Disney World Resort will begin piloting a new service providing expedited entry to theme park attractions: Lightning Lane Premier Pass.

Lightning Lane Premier Pass will be offered in very limited quantities and will give guests one-time entry to each available Lightning Lane entrance in the theme park they are visiting that day. This includes attractions included in both Lightning Lane Multi Pass and Single Pass, but with Lightning Lane Premier Pass, guests do not need to select an experience time. Lightning Lane Premier Pass will be a premium offering, and prices will vary based on the date and theme park guests are visiting.

At Disneyland Resort, the Lightning Lane Premier Pass will be available first come, first served beginning two days in advance of a theme park reservation and will be valid for use in both theme parks. The first date it will be available is October 23, 2024.

At Walt Disney World, when Lightning Lane Premier Pass launches, it will be available to guests staying at Disney Deluxe or Deluxe Villa Resorts and may be purchased up to seven days in advance of their stay. It will only be valid for use in one park of the guest’s choice per day. The first date it will be available is October 30, 2024.

The Walt Disney World Emergency Operations Center is connected to weather experts and community leaders. Please know these adjustments have been made in order to leave time for our Guests and Cast Members to return to their Resort hotels or homes safely hours before higher winds are expected to reach Central Florida.

Operational impacts include:

Theme Parks & Disney Springs

On Wednesday, October 9, our theme parks and Disney Springs will be closed in phases beginning at 1:00 PM.

Disney’s Hollywood Studios and Disney’s Animal Kingdom theme park will close at 1:00 PM.
Magic Kingdom park, EPCOT and Disney Springs will close at 2:00 PM.
Parking garages at Disney Springs will also close at 2:00 PM, and will remain unavailable during the storm.
On Thursday, October 10, our theme parks and Disney Springs will remain closed, and Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party will be cancelled (event tickets will be refunded).

For partially used multi-day tickets, ticket expiration dates will be adjusted to expire on October 11, 2025.

Disney Resort Hotel Closures

Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground and the Treehouse Villas at Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa will temporarily close beginning at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, October 9. They are likely to remain closed until Sunday, October 13.

Transportation

Walt Disney World Transportation will stop operating on Wednesday, October 9 after Disney Springs and the Walt Disney World theme parks close.
Minnie Van service will be temporarily unavailable beginning at 4:00 PM on Wednesday, October 9.
Limited Mears taxi service will be available to Walt Disney World Resort Guests.
Recreation

Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon water park, Winter Summerland Miniature Golf and Fantasia Gardens Miniature Golf are closed on Wednesday, October 9, and will remain closed on Thursday, October 10. Disney’s Blizzard Beach water park remains closed for planned refurbishment.

Reservations for Dining and Other Experiences

Effective immediately, we will not enforce cancellation policies until further notice for dining and other experiences.

Prepaid bookable experiences will be automatically refunded within 7 to 10 business days.

Disney Resort and Room-Only Cancellation Policy for Reservations Booked Directly with Disney Destinations, LLC or The Walt Disney Travel Company:

Due to potential weather impacts to guest travel plans, change and cancellation fees imposed by Disney will be waived for check-in dates of Tuesday, 10/8 - Monday, 10/14.

Hurricane Milton Updates:

- The Greater Orlando Aviation Authority (GOAA) will cease commercial passenger operations at 8 a.m. Wednesday, October 9, at Orlando International Airport (MCO), and 10 p.m. Tuesday, October 8, at Orlando Executive airport (ORL). Crews are increasing their activity with storm preparations as Hurricane Milton barrels toward Central Florida.

- Disney World has yet to announce park closures but most of us expect that announcement to come today with them closing early tomorrow night and being closed all day Thursday.

Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party canceled for Thursday Septmber 26th, 2024 SEE INFO BELOW!

-MNSSHP tickets will automatically be refunded for this party date. Refunds can take up to 7-10 business days. If you will still be in Disney during a later party date, please see guest services to inquire about availability for a future party.

-Magic Kingdom will now be open until 8pm EST in order for guests to enjoy park time before they officially close due to inclement weather.

-Typhoon Lagoon will be closed for the 26th and all beachcomber rentals will be canceled.

-Tours and Enchanting extras that will be closed the 26th: Savor the Savanna, Up Close with Rhinos, Walking with Giants, and Wild Africa Trek.

-Mini Golf is closed for the 26th

In regards to Tropical Storm Helene, Disney is currently stating this:

"Monitoring Tropical Storm Helene: Walt Disney World Resort is currently operating under normal conditions. We are closely monitoring the path of the projected weather as we continue to prioritize the safety of our Guests and Cast Members."

In other words, as of right now, they see no need to pre-emptively close the parks.
If you're headed to the parks this week, expect heavy rain and wind most of the day Thursday.

If you want a unique experience, pack a poncho and head to the parks and you'll practically walk right on any ride (that's open). Remember, light rain does not close outdoor rides. But heavy rain or thunderstorms will close all outdoor rides.

Say goodbye to Genie+! BREAKING NEWS!

On July 24, Walt Disney World will introduce new, simpler names to provide more clarity for everyone. Disney Genie+ service will become Lightning Lane Multi Pass, while individual Lightning Lane will now be known as Lightning Lane Single Pass.

Here’s how Lightning Lane passes will work beginning July 24.

Lightning Lane Multi Pass
When guests purchase Lightning Lane Multi Pass, they may make up to 3 Lightning Lane selections in a theme park, in advance of your visit. They’ll also be able to choose available times as they make their selections. On the day of their visit, once they use a selection, they may check the My Disney Experience app for availability to make an additional selection.

Lightning Lane Single Pass
Lightning Lane Single Pass will work much like it does today, where guests can secure a time to ride one of our most highly demanded attractions, but they’ll now be able to make their purchase and plan in advance.

How to Plan Ahead
Guests staying at a Disney Resort hotel and other select hotels (Shades of Green Resort, Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Hotels) will be able to plan Lightning Lane passes up to 7 days in advance, for their entire stay (up to 14 days). All other guests can plan up to 3 days in advance. These advance purchase windows will let guests secure some of their must-do rides and experiences after they've had some time to decide what dining reservations they want to book and any other plans they may need to consider.

Guests may purchase a Lightning Lane Multi Pass, a Lightning Lane Single Pass or both. The app will also be updated to make it quicker and easier to purchase and plan, with fewer steps and a new option to purchase Lightning Lane Single Pass and Lightning Lane Multi Pass in one transaction.
