The Nelson-Atkins turns 91 years young today 🎂

On this day in 1933, the institution known then as the William Rockhill Nelson Gallery of Art and Mary Atkins Museum of Fine Arts opened its doors.

In the spirit of the holiday season, Kansas City warmly embraced the great gift of Mary Atkins and William Rockhill Nelson and his family — as seen in this cartoon featured in the Dec. 10, 1933 edition of The Kansas City Star.

The rest, as they say, is history.

Welcome to my new adventure!

Some of you may know me from my cake business Sherrie’s Cake magic. I have served the KC area for 16 years. While I still enjoy the artistic creation of cakes and working from home, I’ve developed a strong desire to go outside and play…….. with 20 to 53 new friends at a time……. on a bus.

I consider myself a cross between tour guide and travel agent. What I’ve discovered is that groups of people not only want to take the stress free tour but they also want to PICK where to go. I can do that for you in the price point you want as well, with lots of options. I do not charge to create a tour, it’s all part of the process that I love.
