Last full day in Iceland. We toured the wildlife of Heimaey Island in the Westman Islands. We saw lots of birds, but my camera isn’t powerful enough to do them justice. You’ll just have to come see them for yourself. See below for captions.

A day in he Southeast part of Iceland at a place called Djupivogur. A town of 500 folks that are certainly welcoming of tourists. They are inventive, resourceful, and a heartwarming reminder of the wonderful side of humanity. I have truly appreciated the sense of humor Icelandic people have.

Here the land is more stable, and you can see the erosion more easily.

Over the past 2 days, we’ve been Exploring Oregon and its vast natural beauty. First, we went to Mount St. Helens. The eruption changed the landscape immensely. Traveling up river to the Hood River, we got to see the beautiful Multnomah Falls. See captions below.

The meeting of the waters. The Rio Negro, meets the the Rio Amazon or Rio Solimões, depending on who you talk to. This happens because of the differences in temperature, speed and water density of the two rivers. The Rio Negro flows at near 1.2 mph at a temperature of 82 °F, while the Rio Solimões flows between 2.5–3.7 mph at a temperature of 72 °F. Takes almost 4 miles before the 2 waters become one.

Destination Immersion is one of Azamara’s mottos. On this tour, we visited a traditional Japanese village that’s part of a UNESCO World heritage site in Kanazawa. This area was known for paper, silk, and gun powder in the Edo period. Here are a few pictures from that tour.
