The crisp Scottish air carried the scent of the sea as I arrived at the Muthu Newton Hotel, its grand stone façade standing proudly against the rolling green of the surrounding countryside. There was an undeniable sense of history—after all, this had once been a retreat for the likes of Charlie Chaplin.
But as charming as the hotel itself was, we were most excited about meeting its resident Highland cows (or coos).
After dropping off my bags in a cozy room overlooking the Moray Firth, I wandered down a quiet path toward a sunlit meadow where the famous coos grazed. Their shaggy coats and curved horns made them look almost mythical, like creatures from a fairy tale. One of them—an especially fluffy one with a fringe that covered its eyes—paused from munching on the grass to gaze at me with a calm curiosity. The hotel staff had told us that while they were friendly, they were also quite happy doing their own thing. Still, with a handful of fresh grass extended in offering, one of the cows sauntered up, sniffed at my palm, and accepted the treat with a slow chew. It was a moment of pure Highland magic—a peaceful, almost meditative encounter that made me feel truly at home in Scotland. 🌞

Villagers and visitors from across the galaxy: the limited-time Season of the Force event returns to Disneyland March 28 through May 11, 2025! Featuring a new nighttime experience in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, handbuilt lightsabers will debut a brand-new storyline called “Reclaimed and Reforged” for a limited time beginning May 4 where guests will be able to build their own lightsabers from scraps that have been scavenged by different pirates throughout the galaxy and made their way to Batuu, and Droid Depot will be stocked with parts, chips and more to assemble your own droid, including a BB-series, C-series or R-series unit, giving you the tools to build your own droid. Space Mountain will also transform into a high-speed Star Wars adventure when Hyperspace Mountain returns to Tomorrowland for a limited time through May 11.
