A TALE

I frequently get surprised looks when people hear that travel advisors are still a thing. So much information and ease of booking is available to you directly. This week I had a client who got separated from their bag on a flight to Barcelona, where they were boarding their dream Mediterranean cruise. They got separated because I was able to see a problem with their connections that was going to jeopardize their ability to make their cruise and get them rerouted. I was also able to get their bag to them on Day 2 delivered directly to their cruise cabin - with them having to make 0 calls, getting reimbursed for the items they purchased in Barcelona on their way to the ship to cover, and they have been having a great time with minimal stress. I did all of the waiting on hold, all of the communication of port schedules and addresses to align with bag forwarding, all of the rerouting and even filing their lost baggage claim for the reimbursement. Fee to my client for this? $0 You don't need us until you do!!

The White Pass railroad trip from Skagway is one of the most hyped excursions on any cruise to Alaska. I can confirm it is an incredible experience with great historical narration, incredible views, amazing engineering - and just leaving you in a sense of awe.

I don't always book shore excursions directly through the cruise ship. Sometimes I like to explore on my own and sometimes it just saves a lot of money to look to other trusted means of finding tours and excursions. But with Norwegian's $50 Shore Excursion credit and when cruising solo, the price can be right. I had a great time in Juneau on the Bikes and Brew tour - made some new friends, got gorgeous (if pretty wet) views of Mendenhall Glacier, got a nice little bit of much needed exercise and fresh Alaskan air, and finished with some tastings of some delicious beers made locally in Juneau!! It was a great time.

Hyatt Vivid Grand Island is celebrating it's grand opening in Cancun this week!! It strikes me that they are taking a page from the success of cruising and making the entire resort more experiential, more group fitness, more classes, more workshops - including pottery throwing, Spanish classes, mezcal tasting, SUP yoga, HIIT classes. They are adding grab n go healthy dining options and making a big focus on zero proof specialty beverages. I think this is a great thing and really listening to the market - would you try it out based on these offerings?
