As many of you know, I take my job seriously and I don't like to recommend a cruise line or resort unless I have experienced it. These past few days were spent on MSC's Magnifica. Let me tell you about my short 3 day cruise to Key West and Ocean Cay (MSC private island).
*The ship was old and that usually is the case on these short cruises because there is constant turnaround and the ships take a beating.
*The staff was not friendly nor did they go out of their way to accommodate you. Never did any staff member address you by name.
*The ship was not immaculate. There were many shortcomings....
*The food in the main dining room was seriously lacking.
However, the buffet was decent and the pizza was the best I have ever had on any cruise ship.
*The beverage plan offers UNLIMITED beverages. You can even order multiple drinks at once.
*MSC's private island was AMAZING. I have never seen anything like it. I wish they would offer the island as a resort type vacation. So many uncrowded beaches. We didn't have any trouble finding a spot in the shade.
There were plenty of bars on the island (they honor their drink plan on the island too)! They even have a wait staff on the beach.
The buffet lunch served was decent.
I am sure the experience would be different on a newer ship and a longer itinerary.
