AIR TRAVEL SAFETY WARNING: Today's incident involving a LATAM flight that suffered a sudden drop, causing injury to 50 passengers and seriously injuring 1, highlights the dangers of a current viral TikTok travel tip that encourages passengers to wear their plane seatbelts around their ankles for comfort. This trend, popular among younger travelers, needs to end. Here's a quote from today's flight in the New Zealand Herald that illustrates why it's crucial to trust flight attendants over TikTok advice when it comes to travel safety:

"I thought I was dreaming. I opened my eyes, and he was on the plane's roof on his back, looking down on me. It was like The Exorcist," said a passenger named Jokat, describing the moment when a fellow passenger two seats away from him, not wearing his seatbelt, flew up and hit the ceiling.

"The man then fell back to the floor, breaking his ribs on his armrest," Jokat said.
