Tuesday Travel Tip: Long Flights!

1) Book your tickets Early: The earlier you book, the better chance you'll get your favorite seat

2) Use air miles to upgrade: If you have them, use them! Especially for a longer flight. You'll be more comfortable reclining in first-class. If you don't have miles, maybe it's time to splurge for first or business class seats. Another option is to purchase the premium economy which may be a little more expensive, but you will have priority check-in, extra legroom, and more comfortable seats.

3) Prepare for Jet lag: Couple things you can do. You can spend the days prior to your flight adjusting your sleep patterns slightly. You can also book your flight so it arrives during the day so you will sleep on the flight. Don't try to stay awake for 24 hours before your trip - you'll regret it.

4) Don't overdo the carry-on's: Just pack some key essentials so they are within an arm's reach. Packing snacks and a toothbrush is key here if you're on an overnight flight. Anything to help you freshen up and wake up when you arrive are essentials.

5) Bring a travel pillow: They are so expensive to buy at the airport. Purchase one in advance.

6) Pack lots of activities for your kids: Gaming systems, iPads, coloring books, activity books, card games, and snacks will help keep them entertained.

7) Adjust your watch: This will help you acclimate yourself with the time zone of where your going. Do this as soon as you get on the plane.

8) Make sure all your devices are fully charged prior to departure.

9) Dress in comfortable clothes: Layers work best in case it's too hot or too cold on the plane.

10) Buckle your seatbelt over your blanket: This is to keep it visible so you're not being woken up by the flight attendants when they are checking for seatbelts.

Packing for a Cruise? Don't forget these 15 essential packing items: 1. Cruise travel documents and passports. 2. Embarkation Carry-on Bag: Since it will take several hours for your luggage to be delivered to your stateroom you will want to pack some things that you may want access to while waiting. For instance, your bathing suits so you can enjoy the pool! 3. Magnetic hooks and clips - the walls in each stateroom are magnetic! 4. Use packing cubes for faster unpacking 5. Pack nightlights - even if your not traveling with kids: Cruise staterooms are extra dark at night. 6. Take a pop up Mesh laundry bag: Pack a lightweight foldable laundry bag for your cabin. Space is extremely limited and bringing a laundry bag helps keep your room organized and decluttered. 7. Bring random Ziplock bags of various sizes: leftover food, great for storing wet clothes in a pinch, putting cameras in if it rains, and organizing backpack items. 8. Bring a refillable water bottle: You will want this to refill at the water stations throughout the cruise ships, plus so you can bring it with you on port days. This will save you tons of money too wasted on bottled water. 11. Use an Air Tag for your luggage: Most experienced travelers use these every time they travel to track luggage. 12. Bring a shore excursion bag: you will want this to bring with you at each port. 13. Cruise Approved Power bar (non-surge protected): Most cruise ship staterooms do not have enough outlets. So you will want to bring a power bar or Euro adapter so you can utilize more outlets. 14. Lanyards for Cruise ship cards: you will want a cruise lanyard for your cruise key card so you don't lose it. 15. Towel Clip
