Margaritaville Island Reserve Rivera Maya
Not gonna lie, I was super excited to see the Margaritaville properties on my recent trip. I’ve been a ParrotHead for over 35 years, and love seeing where the brand is headed!
This first resort is smaller, and quaint. I love how the buildings look and the small beach. This is a family friendly resort, and yes, there were kids yelling in a pool which was wedged between buildings. Other than that, I really liked the cozy feel, and would love to come here with a group of friends!
This property has about 150 suites. Another thing I like, is the way they stock your ‘mini bar’. Based your your type of room and the amount of nights, you get a certain amount of ‘points’. You then go to the store on the property, Joe Merchant’s…. Anyone know th reference??? ..and you use your points for whatever you want. No more switching out the beers or sodas for the brands you want, you just get what you want from the beginning!
You can also rent a blender! Margaritaville brand, of course!
Le Petit Chef
We booked some specialty dining and we are so glad we did! The food in the main dining room has been delicious, but Jeremy (my 20-year old son), saw a video about this restaurant years ago, and when I told him it was onboard this ship, and I had my own room, he decided to join me!
We were sat at 6pm and asked to remove everything from our table. We were given two menus, one, which would have the animation which would go with the dishes, and alternate dishes, you could substitute for each course. We wanted the animation!
After all parties are seated, and ordered, the blinds were closed and at 630p, the show started with Le Petit Chef running around our table and preparing the dish, and telling a story. All diners recieved the dish together and had ample time to eat before the next course.
There was an additional charge for this meal ($60 plus tip), but we enjoyed it so much, we booked again when we found out there was an entirely different menu for the rest of the cruise! Last night, back in the main dining room, for Lobster and beef Wellington, I met another travel advisor onboard, who really wanted to get in but they were sold out. So we had the reservation changed, so they could have our table tonight and enjoy it as well!
