What is a Catamaran and Why It is Your Next Vacation
We have put together the top 5 reasons why a chartered catamaran is the perfect vacation.

1. A Safe Way to Sail
While all sailing boats offer safety, catamarans are often regarded as the safest choice for yacht charters. Opting for a catamaran charter further enhances safety with the presence of two engines. In the unfortunate scenario of one engine failing, the other ensures continued movement of the vessel.

2. Is Comfortable
The catamaran's double-hull design provides generous space and enhances stability, ensuring a serene sailing venture. This layout optimizes space utilization, featuring cabins nestled in the corners of the twin hulls, complemented by a central living room area and outdoor seating/dining area.

3. Offers Unparalleled Stability
On a catamaran charter, you'll experience minimal rolling compared to monohull sailing yachts, which often sway on the water. Even in the BVI’s calm water, the gentle pitching of a monohull on the waves can be discomforting. If you're new to sailing or simply seeking relaxation on the yacht's deck, a catamaran charter is the ideal choice.

4. The Ultimate Way to Explore Islands
Another perk of opting for a catamaran charter is its maneuverability making it excellent to explore the British Virgin Islands. If you desire to explore remote locations such as coastal cliffs, often inaccessible to conventional tourists, then a catamaran charter is your perfect solution. Whether it's a leisurely getaway or an adventure-filled expedition, a catamaran charter fits every occasion seamlessly!

5. Best for Adventuring!
The combination of relaxation and maneuverability makes it the best way to adventure.

A Catamaran is Perfect for the Next Vacation
Whether it's a family getaway, a honeymoon, or a couples retreat, a catamaran charter is the ideal choice for any vacation.

VOTE best island songs:

If you're dreaming of white sandy beaches, swaying palm trees, and a cocktail in hand, nothing sets the mood quite like the perfect island song. Today, we dive into the reasons why "Kokomo" by The Beach Boys, "Knee Deep" by Zac Brown Band featuring Jimmy Buffett, and "Margaritaville" by Jimmy Buffett are hailed as the top three island anthems that can instantly transport you to your tropical paradise.

**"Kokomo" – The Beach Boys**
First on our playlist is "Kokomo," a track that takes you on an audio vacation to the sun-kissed shores of the Caribbean. Released in 1988, this song is all about the dreamy destinations of island life. From Aruba to Jamaica, The Beach Boys' harmonious vocals create an irresistible urge to kick off your shoes, sink your toes into the sand, and let the tropical breeze lead the way. "Kokomo" embodies the spirit of a carefree getaway where the sun, sea, and surf are your daily companions.

**"Knee Deep" – Zac Brown Band feat. Jimmy Buffett**
Nothing says 'life's good on a beach' quite like "Knee Deep." This collaboration between Zac Brown Band and Jimmy Buffett serves as a musical reminder to slow down and savor life’s simpler pleasures. The song's lyrics paint a vivid picture of finding bliss in the shallows of crystal-clear waters, where the worries of the world drift away with the outgoing tide. It's a celebration of finding that personal slice of heaven where life is peaceful and the living is easy.

**"Margaritaville" – Jimmy Buffett**
Rounding out our trifecta of perfect island tunes is Jimmy Buffett’s "Margaritaville." Often considered the quintessential beach anthem, this song has inspired a lifestyle of its own. Whether you're a parrothead or just a casual listener, you can't help but sing along to this ode to beachside lounging and margarita sipping. "Margaritaville" is more than just a song; it’s a state of mind where sunshine, good drinks, and good vibes rule.

So do you agree? What songs would you put on the list?

What an amazing trip. We really enjoyed the Spanish Virgin Islands as it was our first time there. The Bioluminescence Bay was an absolute highlight and one of the most amazing things i have ever seen. What was my favorite part of the entire trip??? No doubt spending a week with my wife! Enjoying our time, enjoying the islands slow pace and relaxing environment! Can't wait to go back!

Day 7
The week is almost over 😞. We headed back to Norman Island for our last day. Norman is located about 5 miles from Nanny Cay which makes for an easy morning to get back tomorrow. On the west side of Norman Island is the The Bight Bay. A great harbor with many mooring balls. The famous Willie T’s is there were you have to jump off the 2nd deck into the water. Dinner was at one of our other favorite restaurants, the Pirates Bight. Amazing food and a truly amazing sunset. A friendly sea turtle was playing near our boat so i jumped in with my GoPro and got some awesome video of this amazing animal.

Day 6
We decided to sail up to the North Sound- Virgin Gorda so we can visit one of our favorite places. This beautifully bay has so much to offer and you could easily spend a few days up here. We tied to a mooring ball off Saba Rock and went to Bitter End Yacht Club for lunch. It has been recently redone and is a very high end, amazing resort. There we ate lunch on the beachside restaurant then decided to get lazy on the beach. We found a few beach chairs and a hammock where i quickly fell asleep. That evening we got ready for dinner at one of the most amazing restaurants in the BVI (IMO) - Saba Rock. It's an incredible atmosphere, amazing food and all-around wonderful time. The restaurant is one a small island and only accessible by boat. You pull up you dinghy, tie up and clime up to this one of a kind place. In addition to the restaurant, you can find a gift shop, water activity rentals and an upstairs bar/lounge.

Day 5
We decided to turn our attention back to the BVI and headed east. Clearing US customs by email and we headed to Jost Van D**e. It was the longest day sail of the trip at about 7 hrs. We left as the sun came up and got to enjoy a beautiful sunrise as we headed east. Arriving early afternoon, we grabbed a mooring ball in Great Harbor and after clearing customs there, we took the dingy over to White Bay and enjoyed the afternoon at the famous Soggy Dollar and Hendo’s Hidout. This is one of the most iconic beaches in BVI! That evening we took dinner at Foxy’s (Karaoke night) and ate fresh lobster. Foxy's is one of my favorite restaurants in the islands as it's a fun restaurant/bar with live music. People will sign thier names to about anything you can find with a marker and hand your flag to your favorite college in the rafters! If you lucky, you can occasionally meet Foxy himself as he comes down to mingle with the crowd and will sing you a song or tell you a joke (often not a clean one).

Day 4
Today we sailed from Culebra to Vieques. We decided to go the longer route- around the west side because we have heard of the private beaches over there. We we arrived on the western side, we were able to anchor and it was as adervtised. The beach was all ours. The beaches were not quite as white fluffy sand as the day before but still beautiful. After lunch on the beach we headed back around to the southern side and landed right of the town of Esperanza. There we jumped ashore for lunch at Banana’s and later dinner at Bili’s. Food was amazing and the staff was so friendly. We learned that Vieques has wild horses that just walk down the street and try to go into the restaurants (see pictures)! That evening, we booked our clear canoe tour of the Bioluminiscente bay- only about a 10 min drive. It was without a doubt, one of the most amazing things I have ever seen. The water lights up when disturbed- your paddle, your hand, or the fish swimming under the boat- all leave a light path. It’s truly incredible and a must see. Unfortunalty the pictures of the Biolumininscente bay are difficult to really express what it's like. You should search it on YouTube for some better video than what we were able to get- (note: the pictures above of the bio bay are not mine- but they represent exactly what we saw) But one picture that was amazing, the sunset in Vieques may have been the most amazing ever!

Day 3

After waking up to coffee and breakfast on the boat and the beautiful sandy beaches of Culibrita, we took the dingy ashore to hike to the famous light house. The hike took about 30 minutes and was relatively easy. The lighthouse itself was an amazing piece of history built by the Spanish with such attention to details. Despite the years and the weather taking its tool, it was still amazing to see the detail in the architecture that was put into this. Even more interesting to me, was the view from the top. Looking east, you can see St Thomas, looking west you see Puerto Rico, and to the south was Vieques. After visiting the lighthouse, we walked back down to the beach, and back to “As You Wish.” We departed the amazing little island and headed to Culebra. Culebra is only a short 7-mile sail that took less than an hour. The winds turned from west to the south yesterday which allowed us to anchor up north at Flemenco Beach. This beach is known for the US tanks that still sit on the beach to remind us all how the US used this island for military exercises. We ate dinner at the little restaurant on the beach before headed back to spend a quite evening on the boat.

Day 2

We slept a little later than we had hoped but since we are 2 time zones east our 8AM wake up felt like the 6AM Texas time that it was. We grabbed some coffee from the local coffee shop and grabbed a taxi to head to the customs and immigration office to check out. Unsure how it went, my wife quickly made friends with the customs ladies (as expected 😁) and they talked about all things unrelated to our trip. After a few minutes and only an $8 fee, we were cleared to head out. We stopped at the local grocery store (which is about the size of 1/100 of a Texas HEB) and grabbed our provisions for the trip. With that, we headed out. We left the marina at about 11:30AM and arrived in Culibrita at 4pm. We found a great spot to anchor right off of Turtle Beach and within a few minutes we its name was well deserved as we spotted our first sea turtle (one of my favorite animals of all times). We decided to take a relaxing evening and catch up on some reading and enjoyed the scenery. Tomorrow we plan to head ashore, go up to the abandoned lighthouse before we depart to Culebra.

Day 1

We flew into St Thomas and took a water taxi to Tortola. The nice thing about the private water taxi is that they do all the Customs and Immigration paperwork and go into the building for you. You just sit and enjoy the ride with the provided beverages. The other really nice treat the private water taxi provides- they drop you off at the dock where your yacht is so there is not additional travel. We arrived at “As You Wish,” got settled and headed out for dinner. We walked down the Nanny Cay Marina and ate on the beach at Peg Legs. One of the few places I can eat with no shoes and my feet in the sand! After dinner, we walked the marina, looking at all the sailboats before we headed back to sleep our first night in the boat at the marina.

The Spanish Virgin Islands are just a few hours sail east of BVI. Technically they are part of Puerto Rico (which is a territory of the United States). Know for beautiful beaches.
