Sunday at the Masters! While we already knew it was a tradition unlike any other, we didn’t know we were about to watch history unfold right before our very eyes. It was without a doubt the coolest live event I have ever attended and one of the coolest days of my life. The absence of any tech, the roar of the crowd, the sound of the scoreboard being manually updated … there is nothing like it in all of sports ⛳️ 🐯 ❤️

On New Year’s Eve we asked our kids to write down all their favorite things from 2023. We told them it could include anything: a gift, toy, trip, tradition, personal accomplishment… you name it.

Each child sat down to make a list, and I noticed a pattern emerge. Of all the “things” they listed, one one was actually a thing. Both kiddos listed their favorite Christmas gift. That was the only material object on the list.

The next two or three items mentioned milestones or big moments - For James it was earning his black belt and babysitting his cousin Chase. For Maryn it was learning a gymnastics move and seeing her first broadway play with her Aunt Kim. Both mentioned having cookies and hot chocolate with my parents and the Easter Egg hunt at my mother in laws.

Every other item was memory tied to a trip we took . And what was most interesting to me was the specificity and detail they used. It wasn’t ‘seeing the Eiffel Tower’ it was ‘eating a salted caramel macaroon in the shop with the blue door in the colorful part of Paris (Montmartre) or ‘giggling uncontrollably at Via Napoli in Epcot after the guy at the table next to us said something funny’

These trips had created core memories - shared experiences - imprinted moments that deepened our bond and brought us closer together. Was it always easy? Nope. Were there days when we were cranky and jet lagged? You Bet. Would I do it all again? Without hesitation ❤️
