Well we were so close to Wisconsin we decided to head south on US 45 in search of one of our favs, CHEESE CURD!!! As you might have guessed we found them at a little place called The Boathouse Grill And Creamery in Conover, WI. Kind of a bonus curds and ice cream in the Dairy State, Score!!!!!!

And we are off, left Traverse City this morning about 7:30. Note to self, do not stay up playing Five Crowns, having a couple of cocktails and a cigar if you are leaving early. The first picture is of the Grand Traverse Bay as we head out, sorry our shots are hazy the Canadian and Michigan fires are taking their toll. More in a bit, thanks for hanging with us.

We know, we know we have been terrible about posting our trips…I promise in the coming days we will catch you up with photos and descriptions of where we have been in the past few months, a few recommendations for food, lodging and more. Plus wait there is more, starting tomorrow June 5th 2023, we will be heading to the UP, (Upper Peninsula) of Michigan. Although I was born in Michigan I have only been as north as Mackinaw (Mackinac) Island. Tomorrow that all changes, first stop the Sault Ste. Marie locks know by those in the know as The Soo. We may even venture off into Canada who knows. Hope you enjoy our trip.

The main event of this trip was to meet our 2 great grandsons, Wesley and Oliver, spend time with our granddaughter, Gabbie Hansen and get to know her husband Colin. Huge success! We know now that between all of us we will see each other yearly at least!!

We are leaving Eugene for a few days headed to CA. We are going to drive the coast of Oregon to Coos Bay and continue south to Crescent City CA. We will be there a couple of days and will be visiting several Redwood National Parks. We are so excited. Stay tune for more photo blast!!

The adventures continue…we started our day with a drive to “Old McDebbie’s Farm”. It was so cool seeing so many different animals and things to do in one place. From a camel 🐫 ,kangaroos 🦘, llamas 🦙 goats 🐐 rabbits 🐇 zebra 🦓 toand so many more to fishing and pony rides, baby goats jumping and being crazy. Our little Wesley loved it almost as much as us adults! The. Got some lunch, and babies being fed took great naps while we drove up to Mt Rainier National Park! The awesome wonders of this world did not disappoint! Resting now and finally have internet to get this posted!! Enjoy our adventure through these pictures!!

We have arrived at Whitney Island. We took the ferry across and are stopping for coffee as we are early for our appointment. I’m so filled with mixed emotions today. I’ve waited 7 years for this and it is kinda a “no words”, kinda time. I’ll post more later. We won’t have finished pictures until they arrive at our home in NC, as they cool for 72 hours.

Steve wrote this last week…..

So, we are in our way to Seattle, Oregon and California tomorrow morning. We leave from Wilmington NC at 6am so we decided to spend the night in Wilmington so we can get up at 4:45 instead of 1:45. We head down the street for dinner and stop at Ho***rs, haven’t been here in quite a while. I also did something I have done in a while, I ordered a beer. We celebrate my birthday Saturday I will be 69 oh yeah SHE CARDED ME FOR THE BEER!!!!! Susan Eaton Amari about fell out of the booth laughing. The guy across the aisle handed the server his glasses and ATF came in and said they thought carding me was extreme. Happy birthday to me.

I have some of my Mom’s ashes and we will be going to this amazing place called Artful Ashes and have her ashes blown into a pink glass heart! Thank you to Artful Ashes for all of the communication and help during to past 7 years to make this happen!!

Let the adventures begin!! Literally from the east coast to the west coast. Anxious to see Gabbie, Colin and the boys! However, tomorrow morning in Seattle I will do something I have been waiting for 7 years to do! I have some of my Mom’s ashes and we will be going to this amazing place called Artful Ashes and have her ashes blown into a pink glass heart! One of the most eye opening military museums we have been to. Today we took time out of our busy retirement life to visit The National Navy UDT-SEAL Museum. (Underwater Demolition Team) I have lived in Florida off and on for 30 years and had no idea Ft Pierce FL was home to the museum.

All I will say is it’s an amazing place to learn who they are, what they do and what they have done. If you are within a hundred miles of the museum make the trip to Ft Pierce, it wil make you want to rush out and find a SEAL to thank them.

Well we finally got to go to Texas, San Antonio to be exact. Here visiting my youngest daughter and her husband James. He is stationed at Lackland, which reminds me I haven’t been here in 50 years!!!! A couple of things have changed…Bwhahaha

We are kinda like the anti-snow birds, we go to Michigan in the winter! We are fortunate to have a helicopter in the family, Susan’s brother loves to take us flying and that works out perfectly as we looooovvvvveeee to go with him. He even let’s me take the stick while Susan holds her breath.

As promised, tonight we did the trolly tour of Nights Of Lights in St Augustine. As I mentioned it is rated one of the top 25 displays in the country and we were both totally impressed. Although we got some pretty good photos, they don’t do it justice. If you can get to St Augustine before January 31st we give it 👍. Here is the “Cheapskate Tip”, the trolleys leave the visitors center, if you don’t want to spend the $70 for a row on the trolly, (up to 4 people for that price) just follow them. You won’t get the music and the singing, just use your blue tooth and start wailing. 😁😁

Well I know it’s been a while, but we really haven’t been Gypsies lately in fact we have been staying with our daughter Shannon in Cape Coral Florida since mid October. But today we are in the road again headed to St. Augustine FL, why you say? We read that St Augustine is one of the top 25 destinations for Christmas lights in the country. Sooo we will take lots of picture and share them with you. The good news the lights will be up til January 31st so I am told. So should you like what we post you have time to come see it.
