It's that time of year again when many people like to start--what my wife and I affectionately call-- "Amishing." The shops are open and full of many new, beautiful and functional Amish-made items. Many are also stocked with delicious home-canned produce and sweets. The Amish are looking forward to your visit to the shops on their farms Mondays through Saturdays. (They don't receive visitors on Sundays or Ascension Day, which is 40 days after Easter.) Now is a great time to get out of the house (or away from work) and enjoy some fresh air and sunshine in the countryside while you listen to the Amish Backroads Tour.

My wife and I drove through Amish country last weekend and enjoyed the sights and sounds of early spring. There are three Amish schoolhouses and a sawmill that can be seen along the tour route. The countryside is even more beautiful now with the recent rains and blooming flowers and trees.

I traveled the Amish Backroads on Thursday. The Amish families were doing well and their shops were all open. I got to see a lot of farm activity along with the beautiful countryside. One farm was cutting hay with a horse drawn sickle mower. Several fields had hay mounds ready to be carted to barns. AmishBackroadsTour.com
