The last day of our took us to Wi******er, the final resting spot of our Jane Austen. Jeremy gave us a tour of the neighborhood and the cathedral. We had a cream tea in the lovely cathedral cafe and then explored the city. We all leave Alton tomorrow after a lovely week together. We’ve just had our farewell dinner.

Today was Bath Day! There was the Jane Austen Centre, a walk along the Avon, and a beautiful afternoon tea at the Pump Room. Our coach driver took us by Stonehenge on the way back to Alton as an extra bonus. Another fantastic day on our

It is said that this was a favorite sitting spot for Jane Austen at Chawton House to watch the comings and goings. Yeah, that’s where I would have been, too.

Today’s was to Jane’s brother’s (Edward) manor. He was adopted by the Knight family when he was 12 and inherited multiple estates. We learned that the reason he did not offer his mother and sisters a house after their father died is Edward’s wife disliked Jane. No one knows why. When the wife died, Edward fixed up Chawton cottage for them. (John and F***y Dashwood?) We visited the women’s library and discussed books. Then we had a catered lunch in the smoking room. After lunch, we walked the extensive gardens and saw ha-ha (Mansfield Park). We are surrounded by Jane’s experiences and constantly reminded of her novels. Another stellar day.

Today our took us to the heart of the matter. We took a lovely walk on the Jane Austen Trail to Chawton to visit . After touring the house we participated in a creative writing workshop with Rebecca. Then we all went across the street to Greyfriars for lunch. Lovely Austen Day!

Yesterday’s trip to London was a huge success. We visited Westminster Abbey, walked the embankment to Jane’s favorite tea shop and had dinner on the Thames. Today we walk to for a tour and a creative writing workshop. More photos to come. Allons-y!

On Friday of our Austen Adventure tour this summer, we will be visiting Chawton House, the home of Jane Austen's brother. It's a beautiful manor house that is now home to a center for the study of women writers. We will have a private tour of the house, wander the gardens, and have tea. Chawton House is an Elizabethan manor house that once belonged to Jane Austen's brother, Edward. The library, house and gardens are open to the public.

On one day of our tour this summer, we will visit Jane Austen’s final resting place in Wi******er Cathedral. The cathedral was also the seat of the early medieval king, Alfred the Great and houses a fascinating exhibit in the upper levels of the cathedral - education with a view. One of the first visits of our Austen Adventure 2023 is a short walk away from the Inn. Jane Austen's cottage in Chawton is a favorite of ours. The museum does a wonderful job of presenting the Austens and 19th century village life. Take a look for coming attractions.
