We love this story about the Savage family, who were the first owners of the property where Heron's Nest sits. We are honored to be the family who has loved it since 2004. Sadly, the original home was flooded in Ivan and Katrina, but the Savages front door lives on as our pantry door!

For a generational Dauphin Islander like Phil Savage Sr., time on the island is divided into two parts: “before the bridge” and “after the bridge.”

Our home has a lot of history behind it! The original home, built in the 1950's by the Savage family, was flooded by Hurricane Ivan not long after we purchased the property in 2004. One of the treasures we salvaged was this beautiful carved wooden door. We were told by the son of the original owners that they had the door brought in from New Mexico when the home was built. Also, there was no bridge at the time, so everything came in by boat! We are proud to be the keepers of this Dauphin Island treasure, and love sharing it with our guests!

If swimming in the pool and playing in the gulf don't have the kids ready for bed, these comfy beds (2 twins and 1 full) will be just the ticket to help the kids (or teens!) drift off to sleep. P.S. There are now room darkening shades on these windows, so feel free to sleep in!
