The newest portion of trail being added in preparation of adding the raised viewing area at the Burden Pond Preserve in Troy. Thanks to the city of Troy funding Neighborhood Improvement Programs, we received grant funding for the materials needed to install split rail fencing and the raised platform for viewing the historic dam/falls area!

It's been some time since we got on to talk trails, cleanups and waterfalls. We are looking forward to the relaxing nature of the winter season and snowshoe weather. While we cannot forage, as much, in the winter there are plenty of other things to do.

I found this on a hike the other day. It was both fascinating and horrible at the same time. What do you think?
Mesostigmata is an order of mites belonging to the Parasitiformes. Unlike most members of that group, many of these mites are not parasitic but free-living and predatory. They can be recognized by the single pair of spiracles positioned laterally on the body. (Wikipedia)
